I cant tell if the author meant for the mc humour to be terrible to the point I can barely keep listening or it's simply hes got zero talent at it but it would be best to avoid making large amounts of bad jokes instead of trying and failing so much. I also feel like an adult who drinks alone is likely to swear instead of using McDonalds references in the place of cursing very odd choices unless the author happens to be a child.

2nd book where the main character is relegated to a camio role barely making an appearance. While they go on and on with sub plot elements. I enjoy the plot about the night war but all the daylight war stuff is bs. Worst yet is the fact the books are about the demon cycles yet focus heavely on human politics. Had hoped the last book would be about the kor and its mind court but after 5 books I know next to nothing about the main enemy of the series. The interesting mind court tossed aside so we can read about useless human courts over and over. even had to sit thru it thrice as there are 3 human factions each fully represented and overly explained while the more interesting demon faction is glanced over time and time again.

This is an odd book series . I love the narration and the bones of the story. But it's sad how misguided the authors choices are. He ruins his own story by sabotaging the moral character of his ppl. like having lisha turn into a poisoner who contemplates lying to a man about her bastard child to cover it up. I had assumed her God awful mother's behavior was meant to contrast lisha but she slowly became as disgusting as her. Also spends more time in the past then the present but its much less interesting. Tho I like the information it would be better condensed or spread out a little. That being said it's a good story.

great narration. I really enjoy the main story and caste of characters but the sub plots and characters drag this down. the writer does too good a job making u hate the side characters which for some reason is a fair portion of the book. The pacing is jarring since u spend alot of time on characters you dont see a purpose too. looking at rena and her nasty father.

Great job by the narrator and an awesome story if you stick thru to the end. But I cant for the life of me understand why some writers start the first books with hours of negativity and the mcs catering to the worst examples of humanity. if they would only stand up for themselves I'd understand but just taking the abuse is a terrible way to gain respect for your characters. grit my teeth countless times thru the first 5 chapters. I wanted lisha to smack her mom so much I think I died alittle inside when it never happened.

that scene with his mom was disgusting. what loser would let anyone talk to him like that. terrible writing to destroy your mcs character. what a little wimp.

I liked the story and the characters. the narration was great. I had a few issues with the combat and overly explained mechanics. the constant character sheet updates at first are repetitive. very enjoyable world building tho.

Was a fan of the last three books but this one isn't good. its chalked full of bad puns and flat attempts at humour. the character progression is rushed especially for dale and the writer failed at the best parts of its story the dungeon dives. water dungeon was weak and the fun skits about ppl failing cal's dungeon are limited.

the narrator puts on a decent performance but the writer does a poor job with the story. the book is supposed to revolve around conquering dungeons but most of them boil down to a single boss fight. could have been a much better story if the dungeons had more depth and maybe a few gods actually being a challenge.
