I never thought I could quit alcohol!

Before this book I felt really trapped in a cycle of wanting to take a break from alcohol but not knowing how to. One of my favorite podcasters shared this book and that she was going to take a month to experiment with sobriety and suddenly I was doing it too! I bought this book and this naked mind, the only disappointment was that there is a lot of overlapping information in both... I kind of felt like I could have gotten all of this in one book instead. But I'm really grateful, I'm really happy to hear about a woman's honest relationship with alcohol. I have both books on audiobook and this naked mind in a physical book but I think it's important to have this one in a physical book instead of just audiobook. Maybe this naked mind isn't as necessary as this one in a physical copy? She is using Allen Carr's methods and he really helped me stop smoking, I recommend looking into his work too for sobriety.

Story
Puncturing the bubble of Canadian smugness and naive assumptions of a post-racial nation, Cole chronicles just one year - 2017 - in the struggle against racism in this country. It was a year that saw calls for tighter borders when black refugees braved frigid temperatures to cross into Manitoba from the States, Indigenous land and water protectors resisting the celebration of Canada’s 150th birthday, police across the country rallying around an officer accused of murder, and more.

Hey! It was a great book but really should’ve bit the bullet and had authors read their own stories. January read really well, but it wasn’t right, and I kept picturing other voices. Even just Lena Waithe or Kid Fury reading the whole thing! Grateful, of course.
