I'd read mixed reviews of this book before listening, but I was intrigued by the premise: what would Hillary Rodham have become if she had refused Bill Clinton's third marriage proposal? Author Curtis Sittenfeld offers us a smart, relatable narrator in Hillary, striking the right balance throughout between her ambition in her career and her desires as a woman (including many sex scenes, which some reviewers were squeamish about, but which to me did not seem all that graphic).

Perhaps it was because the whole thing is wonderfully narrated by Carrington Macduffie, whose voices for Bill, Donald Trump (yes he's in here) and many others really make the storytelling come alive. Her "normal" voice as Hillary is warm and mature, and makes this whole what-if fantasy more realistic and believable than it might be if read on the page.

I was sad as I saw the minutes ticking down - I didn't want this book to end. Highly recommended - a thoroughly enjoyable experience!

Enjoyed the book, but I found that the voice of the reader was less mature than that of the author. Sometimes it was distracting and took away from the key messages of the book, which were in fact quite helpful.

very inspiring, I'll listen to this one over and

I listened to this twice through and was very inspired. I'm sure I will listen to it again when I feel I need a reminder of how to come back into alignment with the Universe. Thanks Gabby for all that you do!

beautifully read. The story itself was sometimes hard to follow, but the narrator really made the characters come alive.

I enjoyed the book, the plot lagged a bit in the middle but it was otherwise good. But the performance by Blair Brown was really what made this a great experience for me. she was terrific! I will miss hearing her "Vivian" recounting her life story. loved it.

I don't know if I would have enjoyed this book as much if I'd read it rather than listened. Trevor Noah's spirited reading, his mastery of all the African languages and accents, and of course his personal connection to the stories made it entertaining from start to finish.

I thought this was a good book, a lot of common sense but it was shared in a warm and relatable way. I wish I had read/listened to this book when I was in my 20s. I'm about 12 yrs older than the author so I've learned most of these life lessons on my own already, but it was good to hear them again.

The book was confusing and meandered all over the place, but the excellent reading performance kept it interesting and entertaining throughout.

I loved this book and it has a lot of great ideas to ponder. however, I didn't think the reader was as convincing as she could have been, and I didn't like that the chapters of the audiobook didn't match the chapters of the book itself. she was stopping and starting in between the audio chapters, and sometimes a new chapter would begin in the middle of a section. otherwise, a great book.
