One of the comedy world's fastest-rising stars tells his wild coming of age story during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa and the tumultuous days of freedom that followed. Noah provides something deeper than traditional memoirists: powerfully funny observations about how farcical political and social systems play out in our lives.

This is a most incredible story. I’ve watched Trevor Noah as a TV comedian, but never had an inkling of his past. He has had life experiences that, fortunately, people few white North Americans can even imagine; yet had the fortitude to survive and share with us. This story should be compulsory reading for those who complain they’ve had a tough life, but in comparison it’s been a cakewalk. Beautifully written and narrated.
