When Dr. Louis Creed takes a new job and moves his family to the idyllic, rural town of Ludlow, Maine, this new beginning seems too good to be true. Yet despite Ludlow's tranquility, there's an undercurrent of danger that lingers...like the graveyard in the woods near the Creeds' home, where generations of children have buried their beloved pets.

Excellent story and telling (perfect narrator for the story's voice). Original and well written, going through each character's lives and insights.

This is a tale of sorrow, a tale of survival, a tale of one man's search for meaning in his universe, and how that search, and the indomitable will that drove it, gave birth to a legend.

Finished this book in under a week. Would give 5 stars, but sometimes the narrator's voice took me out of the story. Will be getting the second book in the series

Struggled to finish. As first fan of the tv series based on this novel, I wanted to listen to what it was based on. It was hard to listen to the style of writing (continuous comparisons and short sentences). Would like a refund.
