How have I not listened to their podcast yet??? Subscribing immediately after I write this review.

This book is so much fun. Great stories, big laughs, and oozing with Canadian pride in that self-deprecating/doesn’t take itself too seriously, that only two true bahds could pull off!

Only critique is that there are many false reads that are left in! Who engineered and editing this thing? I know it’s a Canadian production, but c’mon bahd, this is audible. You’re big time authors now, can’t be leavin in those kinda mistakes!

All that aside, highly recommended :)

I don’t identify as conservative, but was interested in listening to the insights of a former long-serving Prime Minister.

I was pleasantly surprised to be agreeing with many fundamental concepts, and appreciated his take on the populist movement.

My biggest gripe with the book is the that the author makes no attempt to recognize his own bias, gives no credit to liberal ideals, instead taking the stand that basically anytime a liberal leader was successful, they were copying conservatism.

He disparages liberals for generalizing all populists as racist bigots (which true, that is not a nice thing to do), but then himself hypocritically generalizes all liberals as “elite” out of touch academics.

I guess I was just expecting a read that was less partisan, since the man is retired from politics, and more just the sharing of ideas to help better the world.

Instead the book reads as more of a handbook for conservatives to profit from the populist movement and stick it to the liberals.

If you bleed blue, you’ll love this book.
If you bleed red or orange, you’ll be frustrated at times, but if you have an open mind, will learn some things.
If you bleed blue and white, then you know the Leafs are the greatest team on earth! :)

Even better than I expected

If you are Kate McKinnon and SNL fan, you will love this book. If you like fantasy and enjoy a good parody, you’ll love this book!

The comedy is on point, the cast is excellent and the sound design and production value superb.

Spend your credit and pick it up!

I probably retained 10 percent of this, it that alone makes it worth it!

It’s easy to zone out. On a future read, I will take a different approach. One letter per day, full attention. That’s the nice part of owning the book now, I can always come back.

I like it?

I can tell there is a lot of wisdom here, but I can’t repeat any of it back. I’m not sure if this material is working for me as an audio book.

Perhaps I need to change my approach to listening. Tackle just one letter a day and pay closer attention.

I will keep coming back to this

I listened over a couple days all the way through, but I’m glad I own this book now because I will later do as Tim suggests in the forward, put on one letter per day, probably on my morning walk with my dog :)

Great lessons in these letters that you can really let sink in and apply to your life.

Scott Brick is my favourite narrator. Expressive and emotional, while remaining tasteful and understated, with tonal variations for conversing characters without overstepping into over acting.

Oh, and the book is brilliant. Can’t wait to read Book 3!

Great stuff here for parents!

I loved the part about the swimming coach giving the thumbs down, and the kids really earning and celebrating that thumbs up when it comes.
