As one-fifth of the iconic Spice Girls and judge on X Factor and America's Got Talent, Melanie Brown, aka Scary Spice, has been an international star since the age of 19. And yet there are sides of Mel that no one has ever seen, or really known. Brutally Honest is an exposé of the struggles and acute pain that lay behind the glamour and success. With deep personal insight, remarkable frankness and Melanie’s trademark Yorkshire humour, this audiobook removes the mask of fame and reveals the mother, wife and daughter behind the Spice Girl everyone thinks they know.

Driven to Succeed is an incredible story of success from one of the most unlikely places on the planet. The story develops on a First Nation reservation, in northern Canada. The child of a single mom of four, living on welfare, was forever changed through a simple act of service. Never has a detailed story been told of life on the rez, set in a backdrop where diabetes and alcoholism are common. You will be inspired as you witness how one child chose to rise above his circumstances to achieve extraordinary success through the power of the mind.

Today, most doctors, dietitians, and even diabetes specialists consider type 2 diabetes to be a chronic and progressive disease - a life sentence with no possibility of parole. But the truth, as Dr. Fung reveals in this paradigm-shifting book, is that type 2 diabetes is reversible. Writing with clear, persuasive language, he explains why conventional treatments that rely on insulin or other blood-glucose-lowering drugs can actually exacerbate the problem, leading to significant weight gain and even heart disease.

Overally I like the book. At the beginning of the course, the professor bashed Malcolm Gladwell's assertion of 10,000hrs. I think the professor misunderstood Gladwell's statement. As I listened to the professor I found out that what he was saying supports Gladwell's assertion...10,000hrs of doing something the right way (with coaching) with proper motivation and attitude [deliberate practice] you will likely be a start in that area. Then at the end of the course, the professor also supports Gladwell's assertion of the age advantage of children born early in the year...I wish the professor acknowledged Gladwell. That aside, this course if great!!!

If you have a clever anecdote, an interesting memory, a new way to explain how something works, or an opinion on a social or political issue, then you have an essay in you. Unlike a novel, history book, or scientific publication, essays provide you with the versatility to express all the various facets that make you you. The concise and direct nature of an essay means that you may tap in to your sense of wit, share your individual point of view, persuade others to your perspective, and record a part of your memories for future generations in as many distinct essay forms as you wish.
