Otherwise known as the “Roma” or by their popular misnomer “the gypsies”, the members of this highly undervalued and grossly misrepresented community have long been considered outcasts. More often than not, the Romani are branded by even those who fancy themselves liberals as “pikeys”, “gyppos”, and “gips”. There's also a regrettably common term “gypped” meaning “to cheat, or swindle” which perpetuates the damaging stereotype that the Roma are dishonest nuisances and societal pests.

This was a well delivered performance of an information filled history of the Roma. Well done! It’s hard to find information that is not racially tainted or bias on the Romani but this book rise to the occasion and presents an unbiased honest and documented history. Enjoyed it completely.

Histoire
At her core, the green witch is a naturalist, an herbalist, a wise woman, and a healer. She embraces the power of nature; she draws energy from the Earth and the Universe; she relies on natural objects like stones and gems to commune with the land she lives off of; she uses plants, flowers, oils, and herbs for healing; she calls on nature for guidance; and she respects every living being no matter how small. In The Green Witch, you will learn the way of the green witch, from how to use herbs, plants, and flowers to make potions and oils for everyday healing as well as how crystals, gems, stones, and even twigs can help you find balance within.

This is a terrific primer on the path of the Green Witch. The author has written a very comprehensive guide useful both to those just exploring and to more seasoned earth witches. Well read, it is a terrific gift for oneself or ones apprentice.

Histoire
In Wyrd Sisters, the enchanting world of Discworld is turned upside down by three meddling witches: Granny Weatherwax, Nanny Ogg and Magrat Garlick. Their interference in royal politics causes kingdoms to wobble, crowns to topple, knives to flash and citizens to shudder in fear. Terry Pratchett's vividly imaginative story takes you on a journey with hunchbacked monarchs, lost crowns, disguised heirs, refuelling broomsticks and frightening thunderstorms, as the three sisters battle the odds to restore the rightful king to the throne.

Wyrd Indeed Sisters!!
Évalué le: 2018-09-13
Terry Pratchett was a writer for readers who read a lot and do a lot more than read! In Wyrd Sisters, he delivers references to the Marx Brothers, Charlie Chaplin, Laurel&Hardy; and a generous nod to the great bard William Shakespeare. I recognized the over laying reference to Macbeth, in Terry’s borrowing of "dagger of the mind", "out damned spot", the ghost of the dead King, the three witches and a play-within-a-play from Hamlet. He also borrowed "all the world's a stage" from As You Like It, and from King Lear, with Duke Felmet descending into madness in the company of his Fool. In addition, the company of actors includes playwright "Hwel", or "Will", and the company is building a theatre called "The Dysk" in Ankh-Morpork, calling to mind the Globe Theatre in London.
As with all of Terry Pratchetts work, it is brilliantly written, never talks down to the reader, and was a pleasure to have it ‘read to me’ by Celia Imrie.
