Story
Among the ashes of a dying world, an agent of the Commandment finds a letter. It reads: Burn before reading. Thus begins an unlikely correspondence between two rival agents hellbent on securing the best possible future for their warring factions. Now, what began as a taunt, a battlefield boast, becomes something more. Something epic. Something romantic. Something that could change the past and the future. Except the discovery of their bond would mean the death of each of them. There’s still a war going on, after all. And someone has to win. That’s how war works, right?

Beautiful and challenging

I doubt you’ve ever read anything like this before. It’s incredibly beautiful, confusing, abstract and imagination sparking. This book is about love distilled into its purest form. The performances are perfect! The two women reading for Red and Blue have just enough distinction to know who is speaking.

Story
With Expecting Better, award-winning economist Emily Oster spotted a need in the pregnancy market for advice that gave women the information they needed to make the best decision for their own pregnancies. By digging into the data, Oster found that much of the conventional pregnancy wisdom was wrong. In Cribsheet, she now tackles an even great challenge: decision-making in the early years of parenting.

Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she's thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy. But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office.

Absolutely loved this book! In a similar vein as The Rosie Project but with a lot darker tone in some parts. So hilarious listening to Eleanor interact with people when she’s so confused most of the time. Absolutely loved Catherine’s performance and she shifts back and forth between Scottish and English accents flawlessly. A perfect audible book!

Story
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Crawdads takes you right into the Marsh lands of North Carolina in the 1960's. We start with a murder mystery, family dysfunction and Kya, a girl with a sprit that cannot be broken. I never thought a marsh could be described so beautifully, and sound so invited. You will feel like you're right with Kya. One thing to note, since the North Carolina accent is a slower pace (great performance by Cassandra Campbell!) this is quite a long one. I enjoyed it immensely.

Story
In December 2017 the famous porn star August Ames committed suicide in a park in the Conejo Valley. It happened a day after she’d been the victim of a Twitter pile-on by fellow porn professionals. A month later, August’s husband Kevin connected with the writer Jon Ronson so they could piece together the story of how Twitter bullying killed his wife. What neither Kevin nor Ronson realised was that Ronson would soon hear rumours and secrets hinting at a very different story - something mysterious and unexpected and terrible.

I love Jon's take on this case. It's not a whodunit but a fascinating portrait into the lives of porn professionals. Jon's voice is very soothing and calming. He has a great way of encouraging people to talk which draws out all the details in this case. Thought the format and structure of this story was great; very easy to follow. Great music choices as well.
