Story
It's been centuries since the robots of Panga gained self-awareness and laid down their tools; centuries since they wandered, en masse, into the wilderness, never to be seen again; centuries since they faded into myth and urban legend. One day, the life of a tea monk is upended by the arrival of a robot, there to honor the old promise of checking in. The robot cannot go back until the question of "what do people need?" is answered. But the answer to that question depends on who you ask, and how.

Story
In a corporate-dominated spacefaring future, planetary missions must be approved and supplied by the Company. Exploratory teams are accompanied by Company-supplied security androids, for their own safety. But in a society where contracts are awarded to the lowest bidder, safety isn’t a primary concern. On a distant planet, a team of scientists are conducting surface tests, shadowed by their Company-supplied ‘droid—a self-aware SecUnit that has hacked its own governor module, and refers to itself (though never out loud) as “Murderbot.”

Story
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

Story
John Perry did two things on his 75th birthday. First he visited his wife's grave. Then he joined the army. The good news is that humanity finally made it into interstellar space. The bad news is that planets fit to live on are scarce—and alien races willing to fight us for them are common. So: we fight. To defend Earth, and to stake our own claim to planetary real estate. Far from Earth, the war has been going on for decades: brutal, bloody, unyielding. Earth itself is a backwater.

Their past, too traumatic to be remembered regularly, is forgotten by everyone, save one - the historian. This demanding role has been bestowed on Yetu. Yetu remembers for everyone, and the memories, painful and wonderful, traumatic and terrible and miraculous, are destroying her. And so, she flees to the surface, escaping the memories, the expectations, and the responsibilities.

Rick & Morty is more of a sci-fi novel than this
This book, along with book 3 & 4 in this series are not sci-fi novels, there is no story line, no plots, nothing! it's just anthology of alien lives, such as what they eat, what they wear, how they dance.
There first book is decent with a story and character development. However, this book to sci-fi is what 50 shades of Grey was to romantic novels, and I don't mean that as a complement!

A slice of life in space
While not as adventurous or intense as book 1, this title takes time to slow down and do a deep character study and ask some interesting questions about human nature vs AI. An excellent read for anyone to enjoy.

This was a good story!
I was very curious about Pepper so when I started listening to the 2nd book I was really happy. It was fun and interesting and the ending was heartwarming and nice. Definitely recommend if you liked the first one. There were a lot of introductions of different species in the first book that could be a little overwhelming but this one added onto the first in a positive way. I enjoyed it alot!

I didn’t think it was possible to recreate the magic of wayfarer
…without those characters, but it happened. I read book 3 before 2 and thought I wouldn’t get into lovely’s character after the end of Wayfarer book 1, but boy was I wrong. This book builds the world perfectly, the way the characters are so empathetically written and the plot inventive and real… Becky Chambers is a treasure.
The narrator handled a variety of character accents and personas really impressively. Never once took me out of the story. Impressively real stutter!

If a book could hug you, A Closed and Common Orbit would be the best hugger!
I just loved the intertwined stories of the two protagonists. Becky Chambers has a way to create incredible characters and her writing is warm and sweet and it’s everything I needed! Also, I love how the species are different in their physiologies and ways of talking, mating, etc. Such creativity!

The Wayfarer Series sits with the best of sci-fi.
Absolutely wonderful in every way. Becky Chambers has painted a beautiful universe, teeming with curious folk and intriguing conflict. Patricia Rodriguez's narration and character portrayal are fully life-giving, and I genuinely hope she has a role in a visual adaptation, if ever that comes along.
Originally, I was hesitant to accept a new cast of characters, almost fully distinct from the first installment. Now having finished the second book, I will comfortably dive headfirst into any story written by Becky Chambers, as I believe they belong sitting comfortably in the highest echelon of science fiction.
