Story
In the early hours of a summer morning, a young woman steps into the path of an oncoming bus. A tragic accident? Or suicide? At the center of this puzzle is Adrian Wolfe, a successful architect and grief-stricken widower, who, a year after his third wife's death, begins to investigate the cause. As Adrian looks back on their brief but seemingly happy marriage, disturbing secrets begin to surface. The divorces from his two previous wives had been amicable, or so it seemed; his children, all five of them, were resilient as ever, or so he thought.

The day Anna McDonald's quiet, respectable life explodes starts off like all the days before: Packing up the kids for school, making breakfast, listening to yet another true crime podcast. Then her husband comes downstairs with an announcement, and Anna is suddenly, shockingly alone. Reeling, desperate for distraction, Anna returns to the podcast. Other people's problems are much better than one's own - a sunken yacht, a murdered family, a hint of international conspiracy. But this case actually is Anna's problem. Sweet story, light drama
I love Lisa Jewell, and as great as some of the characters and relationships are in this, I’m used to heavier thrill and complication in her writing. Lovely book, not my favourite of hers.

A decent read, not her best work.
A good solid listen. Enjoyable, but not as riveting as her other works. Characters are good, I would have liked a bit more depth in their development, especially the secondary characters. They were a bit flat, so at times the intensity of the main characters in relation to them was not understandable.
The narrator was good, interesting choice to have a female narrator when the characters are primarily male.
