Publisher's Summary

The New York Times and Washington Post bestselling serial-killer thriller that will leave you wondering, is the past really in the past?

Three Chicago women have been found strangled, embalmed, and posed as if still alive. Doubting the findings of the local PD’s profiler, the FBI calls on forensic psychologist Zoe Bentley to investigate.

Zoe quickly gets off on the wrong foot with her new partner, Special Agent Tatum Gray. Zoe’s a hunter, intense and focused; Tatum’s a smug maverick with little respect for the rules. Together, they must descend into a serial killer’s psyche and untangle his twisted fantasies, or more women will die. But when the contents of three inconspicuous envelopes reveal a chilling connection to gruesome murders from Zoe’s childhood, suddenly the hunter becomes the hunted.

Narration

The storyline for ‘A Killer’s Mind’ was unique and exciting. Brittany Pressley’s narration was off-putting. I find the Boston accent unpleasant but most of all it came and went at will. Not sure I could make it through a sequel to this first audible especially if read by Pressley.

Unoriginal, not suspenseful, not awful to listen to

I listen to lots of books in this genre (serial killer, female investigators). I don’t find this one interesting or original. There wasn’t any creative killings or plot lines. It didn’t make me feel scared or suspenseful at all. Just a basic plot line of finding a serial killer. The scenes that were suppose to be suspenseful had minimal build up and weren’t powerful. The protagonist wasn’t overly likeable or interesting either. Didn’t really relate to her or care about her. I wouldn’t say it was an awful story, just really nothing special. Didn’t really care enough to finish but I did just as something to listen in the background.

I really really enjoyed this book.

It was written very well and kept my attention the whole time. It had a strong, smart female lead. I enjoyed that she didn't need to be saved, which I found refreshing.
