Publisher's Summary

Sara Crewe, an exceptionally intelligent and imaginative student at Miss Minchin's Select Seminary for Young Ladies, is devastated when her adored, indulgent father dies. Now penniless and banished to a room in the attic, Sara is demeaned, abused, and forced to work as a servant. How this resourceful girl's fortunes change again is at the center of "A Little Princess", one of the best-loved stories in all of children's literature.

Perpetrating a Fraud

As my daughter I listened to this wonderful story, I was struck by the the "This is a Librovox recording...". I yanked up my phone to make sure we were indeed listening to the PURCHASED copy of the story from Audible. Yes, indeed. I have since read many other reviewers who have noted this as well. THIS IS ANOTHER LIBROVOX RECORDING! While they have edited out MOST of the 15-20 second Librovox "ad", they missed a few. I sure hope they are giving Librovox a cut - those people are recording for free, then Audible is snatching up the recordings, editing them, and selling them. While this recording was done well, I am ANGRY with Audible! Thank you Librovox for you work (and thank you to all the readers!) I think this is a disgrace, Audible!

A wonderful classic.

Narration is exceptional. Very enjoyable listen.
This is an excellent book for all ages. Somewhat odd to think how someone back then would
write positively about men looking into the windows of
young girls.!!! But of course in this book it is not a bad thing.

How to Be a Princess

This story starts out so happy for little Sara Crewe. Despite her station in life with money to spare, she is an odd, kind little girl. When hard situations and sadness crashes into her life, Sara shows bravery and reaches into her imagination to get through the hunger and degradation she is put through.

‘A Little Princess’ shows how money can lift you up in the eyes of some people, like the headmistress and some of the girls, and that is a sad reality of life. But if somebody is a true friend, like Becky and Ermengarde, then your wealth is not as important as the kindness of your heart.

This book is a gem, and it holds many important lessons that anybody of any age can treasure. This is a wonderful read for everybody.

Same as the Shirley Temple movie

I was very disappointed when I started listening to this. I thought it was a new story but if you’ve seen the movie, this is exactly the same story. I felt like I wasted my money.
