Publisher's Summary
Gwenwyn is the most miserable princess ever, and for good reason. Merely brushing up against her or touching her exposed skin is enough to cause painful burns, or worse. And if that wasn't enough, she's just discovered the singular reason for her existence - to act as the king's secret assassin, murdering neighboring princes with nothing more than a simple kiss.

Should be rated higher. Great read!
I thought this was a great read, and that it is a very underrated book. I loved Gwen and was cheering her on the entire story. It was not your ordinary fairytale, and had some great plot twists and mystery. This book had it all, a beautifully crafted love interest, an amazing best friend, a captivating heroine, and so much more. I would definitely recommend this one! *I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Great storyline
I received this book in hopes that I would give a honest review.
That being said, I loved this book! I was very sad, hoping that Gwen would get a happy ending but I think the end couldn’t have been more perfect. Can’t wait to read more from the author and listen to the narrator again :)

A great idea, but felt a little too impossible...
Okay, so, I'm grateful to have been able to hear this story in exchange for an honest review.
Here are the things I liked.
1: The idea was pretty fresh and new, I mean, seemed original to me.
2: The characters felt pretty realistic, likable, or unlikeable in the case of the antagonists.
3: My favorite character was Rosie.
Now on to the criticisms...
I felt like sometimes the story was heavyhanded. Sometimes the writing seemed clunky. Perhaps shortening words would have done it a little good. This seems to be my main complaint when reviewing these books.
The characters were likable, but at the same time sometimes seemed impossible, perhaps over the top?
Gwenwyn, for example, started out being pretty meek, whiny and at least to me not very relatable. I didn't dislike her but she gave me no reason to want her to succeed. However, about 4 hours in she suddenly grew a major pair and challenged her father. She went from meek to suddenly an independent woman. I liked that, but at the same time, it seemed to come out of nowhere.
Another thing that really annoyed me, every time she would seem to have a plan, it would be foiled. Each time it was cleverly done. However, it got to the point where it felt like it was a roleplay that the creator kept putting his characters into impossible situations and nothing they'd do was ever going to be enough to get past.
(I'm guilty of this in my roleplays all the time... hehe)
Overall it was an interesting read, I'm glad to have had the opportunity, and I hope the author and narrator continue to create content!

A fairytale gone awry!
This a cute reverse fairytale story that has some dark themes but is quite enjoyable and entertaining. I believe this version is an expanded story of an earlier work. The characters are believable, relatable, charming, and witty. The narrator did a good job! I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
