Yes, Mindy Kaling is the genial Hollywood celebrity who posted twelve selfies from a single Oscar party, but that smile took work. In this hilariously honest essay, Mindy reflects on the social anxiety that she traces back to the slices of white cheese her parents served at her ninth birthday party. Little has changed in thirty years--least of all the fear of being judged forever. It’s probably best to just back away.

Story
It took me a lifetime to have the courage and the clarity to write my memoir. I want to tell the story of the moments - the ups and downs, the triumphs and traumas, the debacles and the dreams - that contributed to the person I am today. This book is composed of my memories, my mishaps, my struggles, my survival, and my songs. Unfiltered. I went deep into my childhood and gave the scared little girl inside of me a big voice. I let the abandoned and ambitious adolescent have her say, and the betrayed and triumphant woman I became tell her side.

Publisher's Summary
New York Times best seller • The hosts of the popular podcast and E! show LadyGang offer a relatable, empowering, and hilarious take on being unapologetically yourself (even if that's not always your best self) in a manifesto that redefines womanhood for the 21st-century lady.
If you're tired of being bombarded with the curated perfection on social media and you're starving for something raw, honest, and a little bit messy, welcome to the LadyGang. Keltie, Becca, and Jac are here to clear away the bullshit and give you the confidence to live your best lady life.
Unabashedly sincere, clever, and full of questionable advice, Act Like a Lady explores the complexities surrounding topics like body image, breakups, navigating a career, and adult friendships through their own embarrassing experiences. The LadyGang has your back with essays like "Maybe She's Born with It, Maybe It's Photoshop" and "If You're Happy and You Know It, Thank Your Ex". You'll learn there's a million different ways to be a lady - and that includes accidentally farting during sex or having the guts to tell your friend she's being a selfish assh*le. No matter what you're going through, you'll find a space to bond over the sloppy, heartbreaking, joyous, and often ridiculous realities of womanhood. Nothing is TMI here.
What the critics say
"A witty guide for women to live their best life... Fans of the podcast will love this irreverent handbook." (Publishers Weekly)

Incredible
If I was forced to read my review out loud right now the only words I’d be able to choke out would be the title of this review because it’s left me in goddamn tears. Keltie, Jac, and Becca if you’re reading this, thank you for sharing the most raw moments of your life. As a young-ish woman of 25 years, this book helped me see that I don’t need to always have it together and that my emotions don’t make me a crazy person.

Ok.... if you’re in your 20s
The book is ok, at best, if you’re in your early 20s. Listening to it now... not very relevant- because you learn their “advice” along the way. 22 year old me, would’ve really loved this book. I tried, but couldn’t love it. Got through it, but... I’m sure there’s much better out there.

redefining lady
absolutely love this take on what it means to be a lady. femininity has changed so much over the years and with women working and doing just as much outside of the home as men we have to now redefine what it means to be a lady. their advice is solid and sound and hilarious, it truly resonated with me at age 32.

The book i wish I had as 20something but fully love now!
@theladygang ‘s book #actlikealady is what I wish I had a long time ago 😂 although I would’ve definitely been scandalized by the language and blush at many of the stories ☺️. Between all three of their stories they make you feel like your past isn’t as screwed up as you thought or your naive, idiotic mistakes were totally normal and made you the strong bad-lass woman You are today (who still has anxiety and that’s ok!) 🤷🏼♀️💪! Ps Thanks ladies! If your in your 20s - you need this book!and if your in or over your 30s - you need this book!!!! Going to listen again!

Hello Hello Hello
Since I’m working from home I really needed some audio distraction to feel less alone. Being that I am all caught up on my podcasts I decided to give this audiobook a try. (Also ordered me hard copy too) WOW! To say this was incredibly well done is an understatement. Being able to hear Keltie, Becca and Jac tell their stories themselves was truly the best part of the entire experience. I laughed, I teared up, I nodded along in the moments where I felt like they were talking directly to me. As a LadyGang member myself, I say to all members YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE. To all non members... YOU NEED THIS IN YOUR LIFE. It was such an open and honest way to do a book that I feel different after listening and honestly can’t wait to read. I feel empowered and feel more in tune with myself. Thanks ladies!!
