Publisher's Summary
Get the definitive edition that has taught generations of actors and actresses. This audio edition includes a supplemental PDF with bonus acting exercises.
In his beloved classic, Acting: The First Six Lessons, master acting teacher Richard Boleslavsky presents his acting theory and technique in a lively and accessible narrative form. Widely considered a must-have for beginning as well as established actors, Boleslavsky's work has long helped actors better understand the craft of acting and what it takes to grow as an artist. This enhanced edition includes additional exercises from Samuel Seldon's First Steps in Acting, which provide further opportunity to practice the techniques discussed in Acting: The First Six Lessons.
Richard Boleslavsky's knowledge of the theater was based on an impressive depth and breadth of experience. A member of the Moscow Art Theater and director of its First Studio, he worked in Russia, Germany, and America as an actor, director, and teacher. He was a leading Hollywood director in addition to producing plays and musical comedies on Broadway.
The audio edition is skillfully narrated by Melissa Epp.

Not worth the undercurrent of Misogyny
I did finish this book beyond my better judgement. Great narrator, but the author insistence on calling the young actress "the creature" does not convey the "adoration" I think we are meant to take from it.
Other acting texts cover these same idea and I would encourage actors (both young and old) to look else where for their "first six lessons".

Not an acting book
I wish I could return this book and get my 1 credit back. It tells a story about a teacher teaching acting lessons. A total disappointment
I only gave it one star because I had to give a star to submit my review. It’s really a no star review

Book for anyone who wants to become an actor
It is a book that is timeless. It has a lot of information. It is great for beginners in advance. I suggest people reread it if they’re interested in mastering the art of acting.

Horrible
I didn't realize this book was a work of fiction. I was under the impression that I would learn something life-changing amd I didn't. These are things you can learn in a middle school drama class. I knew everything they spoke about in this book as an actor and learned relatively nothing. Waste of my time.
