Story
At first, the request seemed simple - sign a new athlete to the agency. Then I found out the new athlete was none other than the most wanted man in hockey today: Hunter Maddox. Gifted. Sexy. At the top of his game. And the only man who has ever broken my heart. If signing him will help save our family business, I’ll swallow my pride and do what’s asked. But when it becomes clear his uncharacteristic antics off the ice are a hint of something deeper, keeping things strictly professional between us becomes more than complicated. In the morning, she was gone and had taken my solace with her. I left for the military that day, vowing never to return to Pennsylvania. When my father dies, I’m forced to go home to bury him. At least I'll finally be rid of his farm, which is grown over and tangled with memories I've fought to forget. And that’s when I find her. She’s even more beautiful than I remember and has the most adorable kid I’ve ever seen. Years have passed, but my feelings are the same, and this time I refuse to let her go. They say you can't bury the past, and they're right.

Publisher's Summary
Tessa has everything to lose. Hardin has nothing to lose...except her. After We Collided... Life will never be the same.
After a tumultuous beginning to their relationship, Tessa and Hardin were on the path to making things work. Tessa knew Hardin could be cruel, but when a bombshell revelation is dropped about the origins of their relationship - and Hardin’s mysterious past - Tessa is beside herself.
Hardin will always be...Hardin. But is he really the deep, thoughtful guy Tessa fell madly in love with despite his angry exterior - or has he been a stranger all along? She wishes she could walk away. It’s just not that easy. Not with the memory of passionate nights spent in his arms. His electric touch. His hungry kisses.
Still, Tessa’s not sure she can endure one more broken promise. She put so much on hold for Hardin - school, friends, her mom, a relationship with a guy who really loved her, and now possibly even a promising new career. She needs to move forward with her life.
Hardin knows he made a mistake, possibly the biggest one of his life. He’s not going down without a fight. But can he change? Will he change...for love?

Love HER take on Hardin, not HIS so much
I love her voice and his accent. But the way he makes Hardin sound is always high pitched, timid and subdued. Her sound of Hardin is much better. Low, raspy and defensive.
Did not like his take.

Another great story!
The more I read the more I need to know. The way the story is told makes you really feel all the emotions that are expressed throughout the story.
I wasn't a fan of Shane East as the voice of Harden. Especially because his "female" voice was a little cringy.

repetitive and intriguing
i want to tell tessa to just understand hardin, his anger, and his need of approval and acceptance. instead she pushes his buttons and overthinks everything. they fight over the same thing, over and over and over. and quit ignoring his phone calls lol! i got weary of all the fighting and shouting, questioning and self-recrimination; yet i was drawn in and wanted to find out what happens to them. i wish the story line would move ahead faster. the first book is awesome!!

A trash story with a trash relationship
This book is a steaming pile of hot garbage. I read the first After, and since it basically ended in the middle of a paragraph, I decided to get the second one to see where it goes. Let me tell you, I envy the dead because they don't have the the ability to listen or read this trash.
Tess and Hardin have the WORST relationship that is toxic, manipulative, and abusive. "But oh, Hardin is hot and damaged and it's my responsibility to fix him." GIRL, PLEASE. GET OUT OF HERE WITH THAT LOGIC. Tess is weak and SO annoying with her inner commentary saying things like "I don't deserve to be treated like this" and then just sets herself up for it again. Like, I CANNOT. I had to force myself to finish the book, and I vowed awhile back that I would not get the next ones and I am definitely standing by that. I cannot subject myself to this kind of torture and garbage again.
Also, Shane East CLEARLY does not have an English accent and it for sure took away from everything. Like, it literally sounds like he is trying to be an English Christian Grey and it does not work at all. No dice, friends. Save yourself the credit, the sanity, and the time, because this is not worth it. It completely rivals Twilight and Fifty Shades for the worst storyline ever amongst a toxic relationship.
PS: I never yelled "finally" at the end of a book like I did with this one. Literally screamed it in my car because I couldn't take it anymore.
PSS: Zed > Hardin. That's it, end of story, contract terminated.

Painful
I have about 3.5 hours left and I don't think I can get through it. These characters are just too much. It's the same thing over and over and over again. It never gets anywhere. Also this author needs to stop using the word LITERALLY all the time. Her hair was black, literally black. Sooo overused. Wish I could return the book.

Good storyline....not so great male narrator.
The female narrator could do this all on her own, and I believe it would be better. Good story line though.

Shane East!!!! Love this narrater!
Shane East literally makes Hardin come alive in this book! I confess I only bought the first book because of this narrator; but Anna Todd is a genius. I have never listened to (or read) a more intense series! I love me some bad boy Harden; and Shane East has without a doubt THE sexiest British accent ever!!!! I will buy anything Anna Todd writes! I will also buy anything Shane East narrates. Great book series!

Male narrator
I listen to the first book and really enjoyed it and the female narrator and got used to her voice. I started this book and when I heard the male narrator i hated his voice and I was upset it was very off putting and made me uncomfortable. I decided to read the book on actual paper instead because I couldn’t handle it.

Shane East...
Shane East’s impression of a female’s voice absolutely ruins this performance for me. Elizabeth Louise is amazing and does a great job reading the male parts.
I wish that books on Audible would have a man read for the male dialogue and a woman read for female dialogue.

i loved it
I love the heartbreak as much as i love the happy moments in tessa and hardins story. I cried, i laughed out loud, i got mad and rolled my eyes, but im in love with this story. This story is more realistic to me than any love story i have ever read, it just goes to show that not every love is all hearts and flowers, there is going to be struggles.

How are ther 5 of these?
I randomly started this series not knowing anything about it, but just being a fan of the genre. Tessa is the dumbest little girl i have ever read about. it is infuriating the amount of bad, unthought out decisions she makes. How does this behavior go on for 5 books?! I cant see my self sticking around for that many 19 hour books.

Male narrator's performances
Elizabeth Louise could have done the whole book ,since we are use to her voice since book 1, and her HARDEN 's interpretation is really good ... all what i'm saying is Shane East has a very mature voice and it was unbearable when he try to pretend a 21 yrs old cool kid .. worst when he does Tessa... horrible actually ,
i'm not saying Shane is bad narrator ,he must be a very experienced professional in his line of work, he has good clear voice just that producers has made the wrong choice for Haden

Wrong choice of voice
Elisabeth Louise is perfect to play Tessa but Shane East... OMG he's so not Hardin !! He's way too old, for once, and his acting is really bad ! He tries too hard, too much drama and all in his voice. It's horrible and when I was listenning I could only think of how bad he sounded rather than the story. Elisabeth should have read the whole book.
