Publisher's Summary

A Primarchs Audiobook

Who better to relate the tale of Alpharius than the primarch himself? As he tells of his deeds, bear one thing in mind: nothing can be trusted when it comes from serpent's mouth.

Listen to it because:

I am Alpharius...and so are you.

The story:

Legends abound of the glorious - or infamous - deeds of the emperor's sons. Yet almost nothing is known of Alpharius, the most mysterious of them all, for the lord of the Alpha Legion is unparalleled in the art of obfuscation. Such are his gifts of secrecy and deceit that even his rediscovery has remained an enigma - until now. But when the tale comes from the serpent’s mouth, where do the lies end and the truth begin?

Written by Mike Brooks. Narrated by Jonathan Keeble.

I Am Alpharius

Absolutely loved this story, makes you become a fan of the Alpha legion and its primarchs battle doctrines and its commitment to espionage and secrecy. Of all the primarch origin stories the discovery of the 20th legion is very well done. Of course, this is all a lie.

This is a five star review...This is a lie.

I was utterly hooked from the first line, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It gave us much more insight into the primarch than it did the legion, but I suppose that was also the point.

Needless to say, this was definitely one of my favourite reads (listens?) in a long time.

A must read novel by Mike Brooks

Written wonderfully, I love the tone and the arrogance of Alpharius. My new favourite Primarch, Alpharius/Omegon.
Excellent performance also by Jonathan Keeble.
A must read/ listen to book.

A much-needed novel and work of art

Little is known of the 20th Legion, and even less of the Primarchs. This book was phenomenal and did an outstanding job giving a good inside view into the Alpha Legion as well as the mind of Alpharius. It's not every day you get a story told by a Primarch first-hand and this worked very well. Not a dull moment and Jonathan Keeble's narration is on-point and engaging as always.

Definitely recommend for anyone with even just a passing interest in the Hydras and their Legion!

My Favorite Book in the Warhammer Universe

Now also my choice for best primarch of them all. An engaging story, and well performed.

"For the Emperor"

Simply put, this is a groundbreaking read. I can break its success down to three reasons:

First, there are revelations here that alter our perceptions of the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy era. Out of those revelations come questions. It's all rather fitting for an Alpharian read. Second, it is one of our first dives into the Alpha Legion, period. We get to hear the thoughts of Alpharius; understand his rationale; see how Astartes within the legion feel and operate. Brooks may indeed be the first author to peel the onion that is the Alpha Legion. Thirdly, it's all through the perspective of Alpharius himself. It allows us understanding that would be otherwise difficult to ascertain. It humanizes both primarch and legion.

A great book.

Probably one of my favourites from Black Library so far. Really gives a good deal of insight into how the little understood Alpha Legion operates and where they fit into the scheme and order of battle among the Emperor's legions. In true Alpha Legion fashion, it also raises as many questions as it seems to answer... Highly recommend for any 40K listener.
