Beautiful Story
First off I loved the voice of this novel, it fit the story so well. I could so clearly see the characters, the setting and feel the pain, suffering and passion within it.
The main character was so richly developed. Her pure innocence and naivety when dealing with "normal" interactions mixed with her strength, knowledge and power when it comes to magic creates a dynamic character. I loved the story of love, loss, healing and strength.

Not what I expected but not bad
The description is misleading the story is actually a retelling thru the diary of a teen in the year after her sister’s death. The magic is so subtle and deniable that most of the book you are wondering if she isn’t delusional. I did enjoy the characters and the narrator walks a knife edge of unreliability, leaving you wondering until the end what kind of story this really is. Loved the lyrical Welsh accent of the protagonist. Beautiful words and imagery.

Bored
She just prattles away about her thoughts the whole time and there was no story line. I kept wondering when something would happen. The description sounded so interesting, but little did I know that the description of the book all takes place before the book starts. All I remember is fairies and her kissing a boy. Very disappointed.

Painfully boring
Half way through and this is, by far, the worst Hugo award winning/nominated novel I have ever read. The 'story' is the ramblings of a vapid teenage girl who talks about her boarding school and how she likes reading SF novels. I don't think I will make it through it.

A book about books
90% of this book is the main character talking about the book she is reading, going to read or has read. Very little actually happened in the story. I almost stopped listening several times, but kept hoping there was a point.... not really... in the last 10 minutes it kind of wraps up but not really
