Story
Told from four-year-old Laura's point of view, this story begins in 1871 in a little log cabin on the edge of the Big Woods of Wisconsin. Laura lives in the little house with her pa, her ma, her sisters Mary and Carrie, and their trusty dog, Jack. Pioneer life is sometimes hard for the family, since they must grow or catch all their own food as they get ready for the cold winter. But it is also exciting as Laura and her family celebrate Christmas with homemade toys and treats, do the spring planting, bring in the harvest, and make their first trip into town.

I Wish This was Unabridged...
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook. It was almost like one of those autobiography read by that person. I just wish it had been the complete book. Unfortunately so much of the story is left out in this edition.
Would you ever listen to anything by L. M. Montgomery again?
Yes I have all of the Anne and Avonlea books that are available already.
What does Megan Follows bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Megan Follows (who played Anne in the Sullivan Entertainment movies) reading Anne of Green Gables was like Anne herself telling the story.
Was Anne of Green Gables worth the listening time?
Yes
Any additional comments?
Megan Follows needs to do the full Unabridged version of all of the Anne books.

A sad disappointment
Having first been introduced to Anne of Green Gables by the TV series starring Megan Follows, I was very excited to listen to this version of the book. While Megan Follows does a good job narrating the story, this version is very poorly abridged and produced. This was a real disappointment and I strongly recommend avoiding this version. I gave it one star because Audible requires at least one but I would say that this one deserves zero stars.

1984 Megan Follows Is Anne Shirley. Period.
Would you consider the audio edition of Anne of Green Gables to be better than the print version?
Two different apples.
What other book might you compare Anne of Green Gables to and why?
None.
What does Megan Follows bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Megan Follows has morphed in my mind to be Anne Shirley. Having her narrate this abridged version in 85' was the right voice at the right time.
Who was the most memorable character of Anne of Green Gables and why?
Anne Shirley.

I played the sample before purchasing, and it was fine. Once I bought it and hit play, it sounded like they were recording in a tin can. I was extremely disappointed.

Terrible audio quality
Same as others have said. It's a shame it's abridged, that wasn't well done. And the ripped--from-cassette sound quality is dreadful, though Ms. Follows is always good.

Brings back memories
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
The story is a classic and Megan Follows does every bit as outstanding a job as she did in the movie. Alas the sound quality is dreadful and they music overlay overwhelms the narration. Also the recording repeats itself in at least one spot. Great story and performance, piss poor engineering.
