I like a slow burn but one that is built with subtlety and good world-building as you go along. This book is extra slow and not at all subtle. I became impatient and wanted the story to go SOMEWHERE, It kept saying... this is what is coming but never got there more than halfway through the book. Very little character depth and everything is rather surface. It's too bad because it had a good premise and the narrator was good.
