Publisher's Summary

Debut author Sally Thorne bursts on the scene with a hilarious and sexy workplace comedy all about that thin, fine line between hate and love.

Nemesis (n.)
1) An opponent or rival whom a person cannot best or overcome.
2) A person's undoing
3) Joshua Templeman

Lucy Hutton has always been certain that the nice girl can get the corner office. She's charming and accommodating and prides herself on being loved by everyone at Bexley & Gamin. Everyone except for coldly efficient, impeccably attired, physically intimidating Joshua Templeman. And the feeling is mutual.

Trapped in a shared office together 40 (ok, 50 or 60) hours a week, they've become entrenched in an addictive, ridiculous never-ending game of one-upmanship. There's the Staring Game. The Mirror Game. The HR Game. Lucy can't let Joshua beat her at anything—especially when a huge new promotion goes up for the taking. If Lucy wins this game, she'll be Joshua's boss. If she loses, she'll resign. So why is she suddenly having steamy dreams about Joshua and dressing for work like she's got a hot date?

After a perfectly innocent elevator ride ends with an earth-shattering kiss, Lucy starts to wonder whether she's got Joshua Templeman all wrong.

Maybe Lucy Hutton doesn't hate Joshua Templeman. And maybe he doesn't hate her either. Or maybe this is just another game.

If you enjoy Harlequin Romance

I googled, if you like Sophie Kensella you will like... Sally Thorn’s name came up as a promising book. I found this book has a very week plot with little to substantiate little to be believable. The character development is weak. If you enjoy a simplistic romance story that is peppered with a lot of sexual tension, this is for you.

I don't get the hype...

I couldn't even finish this book. I got to chapter 9 and had to stop before I shot myself in the face. I will never understand books that glorify guys being complete a**holes to women and women falling in love with them. Are we in the third grade where pulling someone's hair means you like them? The writing itself was fine at best. had some quirky moments, but as soon as chapter 5 hit the characters completely changed for the worse. Save yourself the disappointment and do not read this book.

The performance by the narrator is not great either. She tries to put on voices and just does not pull it off. when she's reading in her normal voice she is good but when she's trying to pull off guys voices it just sounds mundane.

If you want a good book, I suggest Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine. Great writing, great narrator, and no a**hole guy who convinces a woman to fall in love with her...

great story!

this was a great book and the narrator is awesome!
found the story engaging and steamy 💚 the way you behave has consequences and some times the person you expect the least is the one that knows you the best. will definitely get more books from this autor and narrator. #Audible1

Meh.

With all the hype and the vastl amount of great reviews. I had high expectations of the book. Although the narration was spectacular, the story fell flat and the characters had no depth to them. I give this book a big "meh" at best. If it wasnt for the narration I probably wouldnt have gone past the first chapter or two.

Ridiculous

This book is so ridiculous it’s maddening. I’ve never even written a review and I had to vent about this book. Why would an Executive Assistant be in line for a COO position? How would anyone get away with such juvenile behaviour in a corporate environment? The lead characters have the sophistication of children picking on one another. Besides the fact that the premise is silly it’s just predictable and boring. I couldn’t even finish listening. The narrator was great though.

Heartwarming, easy listen.

This had all my favourite tropes of enemies to lovers. Katie as the narrator had distinct voices for each character which really helped bring the story to life. If you’re looking for a heartwarming, sexy story this is the one for you!

Review

I just finished The Hating Game and this book has me weak. Romance makes me all goopy and starry eyed if they're good. And this one really got me. Lots of audible squeals and "aw"ing. It was perfect. I burned through this book and I'm kind of sad it's over. It was so fun. I dragged it out longer even though I finished it in two days. I had to make myself do things other than read this book, which was a bit of a feat. I'm such a sucker for romance like this, it's almost embarrassing. But oh well.

I really didn't think I was going to like this as much as I did. I forgot how much I love a good romance book and this one was hit just right. The structure is perfect for the genre, teasing and pulling the reader in and wanting more.

I think going on skeptical probably helped. I really didn't know what to expect and I'm pleasantly surprised. It did fall into a few tropes, but who doesn't love a good trope now and then?!

The last few days have been hard for me emotionally and this book almost immediately had me giggling, snickering, and swooning. Whenever I take a break, I do that satisfying sigh and shake my head, like "I'm so glad I'm reading this and that I found this."

Now, onto the next read!
