2021 Audie Award Winner for Best Romance Audiobook

An Amazon Charts and Washington Post best seller

From New York Times best-selling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward comes an unexpected love story that started with a boy and girl and heats up when the man and woman reconnect.

I’d never forgotten him - a man I’d yet to meet.

Griffin Quinn was my childhood pen pal, the British boy who couldn’t have been more different from me. Over the years, through hundreds of letters, we became best friends, sharing our deepest, darkest secrets and forming a connection I never thought could break.

Until one day, it did.

Then, out of the blue, a new letter arrived. A scathing one - one with eight years of pent-up anger. I had no choice but to finally come clean as to why I stopped writing.

Griffin forgave me, and somehow we were able to rekindle our childhood connection. Only now we were adults, and that connection had grown to a spark. Our letters quickly went from fun to flirty to downright dirty, revealing our wildest fantasies. So it only made sense that we would take our relationship to the next level and see each other in person.

Only Griff didn’t want to meet. He asked that I trust him and said it was for the best. But I wanted more - more Griff, in the flesh - so I took a big chance and went looking for him. People have done crazier things for love.

But what I found could change everything.

What the critics say

"Jacob Morgan and Andi Arndt share the narration of this highly charged romance.... Morgan and Arndt both emote as their characters exchange "dirty letters" and sexual taunts that grow steamier and more erotic, including descriptions of BDSM sex play." --AudioFile Magazine

"An anxious, agoraphobic heroine takes center stage in this optimistic contemporary from Keeland and Ward...Griffin and Luca’s letters are endearing and believably intimate.... Readers motivated to see this unlikely heroine succeed will forgive the more fantastical indulgences of this light, escapist romance." --Publishers Weekly

Pretty shallow, was looking for something deeper

This book is about a girl with agoraphobia and how isolated her life is - actually, the entire book felt isolated and narrow to be honest. There are no other significant characters other than Griffin, Luca and her psychiatrist. Literally no side characters. The conflict fell flat for me because the story felt so one dimensional. If you’re looking for a light, fluffy read this will probably do the trick. If you’re looking for a romance that has some substance, keep looking.

Couldn’t stop listening

I started this audiobook just after completing another, less satisfying one. Little did I know that I would be taken on such an emotional journey with 2 of my favourite narrators. So many aspects of this book touched me on a personal level and I really didn’t want it to end!

So freaking great

Loved! One of the best I’ve listened to in a long time. It’s the sweetest romance with awesome characters. Better than expected.

Great story

It would be great if the readers read it together. In some of sex scenes I found it little odd when the female narrator played the man’s voice.

Other than that, I really enjoyed it

Interesting story

I really enjoying their writing. I’ve read a few now. Includes some humour. Some spicy scenes. And this is an original love story.

Loved it!

I’ve listened to this many times and still cry in the same spots as the first time. The story is real and the narration by both actors is wonderful. Highly recommend!

Not my cup of tea

This book revolves around childhood penpals who abruptly stopped corresponding, only to reconnect years later on strained terms. The trope piqued my interest and it had potential, but to me, the execution was not it and left me somewhat disappointed.

Regrettably, the story didn't resonate with me, primarily due to its lack of depth and one-dimensional portrayal. Many of the spicy scenes felt awkward and almost forced, failing to convey the anticipated tension and genuine connection between the characters. It's possible that readers who enjoy the rock star trope might find it more appealing than I did.

One thing I did enjoy about the book is the relationship between the therapist and the female lead, as well as the backstory behind the events that led her to stop writing. This aspect added a touch of authenticity and a relatable human dimension to the story.

I so enjoyed this latest novel by my favourite duo!
I laughed repeatedly and then cried a few times near the final chapter. What a great read!
