About this listen
I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Sunday morning, the 29th of March, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.
We start in Numbers 23:8:
“How shall I curse whom God has not cursed? And how shall I denounce whom the Lord has not denounced?”
Then we go to verse 20. This is now Balaam speaking to Balak, his king:
“Behold, I have received a command to bless; He has blessed, and I cannot reverse it.”
Wow! The king, Balak, wanted Balaam to curse the Children of Israel, but he had a direction from God, not to curse God’s people, but to bless them.
Today, we want to speak clearly about being a light in a world that is full of negativity and negative talk. In Matthew 5:14, the Lord Jesus says: “You are the light of the world.” We are not called to curse but rather to be a blessing to people. If you have nothing good to say about somebody, rather don’t say anything at all.
I want to tell you a story about two young boys who live in the United States of America. Their mother spoke life over those two boys. They had no father, she was a single parent. She worked in a restaurant. I think she held down a couple of jobs to keep these young boys at school. She told them that they had to learn. She spoke life into them. The one became a mechanical engineer, I believe, and the other one became one of the top neurosurgeons, that’s a brain surgeon, in the world. His name is Dr Ben Carson. He led a team of surgeons, the first known in the world, to separate siamese twins who had been joined at the back of the head, and they both lived. Why? Because of a mother who spoke life and blessing over her two young sons.
She was an uneducated lady herself, but she knew Jesus Christ and she persevered with Him. Today, let us be a blessing. Let us not be a curse. If we have nothing good to say, don’t say anything. Let us rather start speaking life and not death. That is what Balaam said. He said to the king, “I cannot curse God’s people.” We cannot curse people, folks, we have got to bless them and pray for them and see the good in them, and Jesus Christ will turn the situation around.
God bless you and have a wonderful day,
Goodbye.
