About this listen

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Monday morning, the 6th of April, 2026, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

We start in 2 Corinthians 3:6:

“…for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”

Then we go on to Acts 7:3. This is Stephen talking to the High Priest and the Council. He is telling them, “and then the Lord said to Abraham, “Get out of your country and your from your relatives and come to a land that I will show you.” Then he goes right on from there to tell the High Priest and the Council, the whole history of the Jewish nation from the time that they were delivered from Egypt out of slavery by the Lord using Moses.

A waiter - yes, a waiter reminded the intellectuals, the High Priest, the Council. Those men had so much power they could almost administer the death penalty, and yet it took an ordinary waiter who was serving at the tables to teach them about their own history. Do you know why? Because he knew the Author of the word. That’s right, he knew our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, He knew God the Father, and he was filled with the Holy Spirit. That is why the Bible tells us that the letter killeth but the Spirit giveth life.

You can know the Bible inside out, back to front. That doesn’t mean to say that you understand it unless you are filled with the Spirit of God. All you become is a history teacher. Isn’t that right? No, it is when the Holy Spirit empowers you, like He did Stephen, that Stephen understood the meaning of God’s Holy Word.

I want to say to you today, yes, we must read the Bible. I read the Bible every single day of my life. You know that. That is where I get these Thoughts for Today from, but not only read it but understand it. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you understanding before you read your daily scriptures. The High Priests knew the word, but they didn’t know the Holy Spirit, so they had no understanding of the power of the written word of God. So today remember, the letter killeth but the Spirit giveth life.

Jesus bless you and have a wonderful day,
Goodbye.
