Story
I didn't mean to sneak a peek at my older brother's best friend. But when I catch him showering by mistake, I can't help but look. The guy is massive - and I do mean everywhere. We're all home to celebrate Dad's retirement as one big happy family, except my newlywed brother's already getting divorced, my mom keeps asking why I'm still single, and most frustrating of all, Barrett Wilson is staying with us at my parents' home for the weekend. I've known Barrett for years, so why am I suddenly noticing so many new things about him - like how big he is? It's maddening.

I’m not boyfriend material. If a trail of broken hearts and a piss-poor record of failed relationships have taught me anything, it’s this. My buddies are happy to give me shit about my latest breakup from here to next Sunday. Thanks, but I’d rather have a root canal. And a vasectomy. At the same time. Relief comes in an unlikely package - the gorgeous and feisty Maren. She just so happens to be my best friend’s sister, so that’s not awkward at all.

Lexington Dane was my brother’s best friend growing up. We did everything together. He taught me how to throw a punch, how to change a tire...and he taught me how to kiss. I fell hard and fast, and gave him all my firsts. I promised I’d wait for him.... But I’m done waiting, because he went off to college and never came back. He took his fancy business degree and moved to New York City, where he promptly became a real estate mogul - turning every penthouse and apartment project he touched into gold.

Every family has a black sheep. In the infamous Casso crime family, that black sheep is me - Cannon Freeman. Except I’m not a free man. I’ve never been free. Not since the day I was born. I owe my loyalty to my father, Dominic Casso, even if he won’t publicly acknowledge me as his blood. I’ve never had a reason to go against his wishes...until I met her. That smoking hot one-night stand with a former rock star? Turns out, he's my son's new teacher. Oops. But I didn't know that the night I met Campbell. All I knew was he played my body the same way he played a guitar - like he owned it. My libido is still high-fiving me after being self-served for too many years, and we're both ready for another night or two of fun, especially since we don't just have chemistry in bed - we connect over everything. That is, until I learn he's the man who'll be coming to my house twice a week to teach my son the best music lessons money can buy.

Let me list the reasons why dating the sexy, charming pro hockey star is a bad idea: He’s one of my closest friends. All our friends are friends. The wounds I’ve got from past relationships go deep. And so do his. We’re both devoutly single - it’s just safer for the heart that way. But there’s no reason not to bid on the gorgeous, clever athlete at the charity auction this weekend. If I win, it’ll be a "friendsdate".

It was just a typical Monday. Until the big boss asked me to make the pitch for a prospective new client. After two years on shaky ground at work because of my screw up, an opportunity to impress the senior partners was just what I needed. Or so I thought, until I walked into the conference room and collided with the man I was supposed to pitch to. My coffee spilled, my files tumbled to the ground, and I almost lost my balance. And that was the good part of my day. Because the gorgeous man who crouched down and looked at me like he wanted to eat me alive was none other than my ex.

We met in the least likely of places. It started out innocently enough. I was “ScreenGod”, and she was “Montana”, but of course those weren’t our actual names, just the virtual cloaks we hid behind. Logging in at night and talking to her was my escape - my sanctuary. Her real name was Eden, I’d soon come to find out. From the first time we connected online, I found myself transfixed. She was an addiction. At first, we knew nothing about each other’s real identities...and she was adamant that we keep things that way.

Publisher's Summary
A hot and hilarious new standalone from New York Times best seller Kendall Ryan
We met in a trapped elevator. Emmett was on his way to work, sophisticated and handsome in his tailored suit and tie. I was on my way to the sperm bank. Awkward, right?
At 35, my life hadn't taken the path I thought it would and I was tired of waiting - I wanted a baby. And I was ready to take matters into my own hands to make it happen.
After our ill-fated elevator encounter, Emmett insisted on taking me to dinner - he also insisted on something else - that I ditch my plan involving a turkey baster and let him do the job. He would be my baby daddy. He was a wealthy and powerful CEO with little interest in diapers or playdates. And since he didn't want kids, I'd be on my own once his bun was in my oven, free to go my own way.
But once his baby was inside me, it was like a switch had been flipped, and I got a whole lot more than I ever bargained for.
This full-length standalone contains a hot, swoon-worthy hero, lots of playful banter and some hot baby-making! Enjoy.

Well Rounded Romance
Story premise was a bit unrealistic but one a listener enjoys imagining. This was an all around solid romance. The writing was tight and still emotionally insightful despite it's shorter length. It's well balanced with humour, steam, angst and insight.

A pregnancy romance with a You've Got Mail feel
Kendall Ryan's taken the arranged pregnancy romance story line and given it a touch of You've Got Mail, the Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan hit film. Emmett Smith is a bit of a playboy, but there are reasons why he doesn't do committed relationships, misplaced as those reasons may be. Same goes for Jenna Porter, but she's got pregnancy on the brain, especially with her being in her thirties. She isn't looking for the hassle of dating and meeting "the one". She doesn't need to settle down with a man in order to have a child together with him. She may have decided to go to a fertility clinic, but getting stuck in a stalled elevator with Emmett has her taking a whole different direction.
Jenna's need for independence had her wanting to be more clinical about their approach, but Emmett brought out the more "fun" side of things by insisiting they do things the old-fashioned way. We've got the usual not-falling-for-each-other-but-then-they-do is present in the story, but then they're supposed to fall in love! That's why it's a romance. We want the happy ending. I do wish, though, that the author had done things a little differently. Maybe added a twist or two to allow it to stand out. That doesn't mean, though, that I Ryan didn't satisfy with this standalone. She did. As far as the narration goes, Sebastian York did sound as if he was dialing it in at times, but kudos to Virginia Rose for her work. Baby Daddy is a four-star listen. ♥

oh holy hotness...
This book was sexy to the max! Kendall's writing draws you in with ease. I don't know how to describe it... It is written in a relatable way- not showy with fancy wording- but using slang or funny sayings I would use. She can put a witty enjoyable spin on anything.
I adore these characters! I don't like giving away plot so all I will say is that I was yelling at them the whole way. I thought the plot was awesome- definitely something lots of women can relate to. Absolutely loved it!
Narration was fabulous! It passed all my criteria for what i like in a narrator. Voices were clear- pleasing to listen to- read with feeling and soul- I have ZERO complaints!

Needs some work.
The female characters has no depth. She is just needy and whiny. I could barely get through this book. At first she comes off as prim and proper but that is really a farce. She is demanding and not really a nice person. The male character just goes along with what she says for no apparent reason but sex. The story lines leaves something to be desired.Save your time and leave this one on the shelf. Jenna was seriously bitchy, I didn't understand how she could get upset with male character about something that SHE herself did not disclose, just like another reader had stated, she is a selfish, whiny, and bitchy person, it has to be her way or no way. The male character, he has changed and a huge growth, but Jenna, she didn't want to change, and only blames it on men. I wish the author had worked on the female character better for Jenna...I do not like. all in all, I felt the male character didn't have to do anything.

Could of Been Better
This is the second book I have listened to from Kendall Ryan and I'm not impressed with her writing. Her books are really short, but could be longer. She does a lot of telling instead of showing which could lengthen her books. The female character in this book wasn't impressive at all and really had very little growth. The male character did have some growth and was okay. The story was very predictable with a rushed ending and a plot twist that was unnecessary. Needless to say this will be the last book I will be listening to by this author. As always Sebastian York was excellent at narration. Virginia Rose was okay. Really wish I could have liked this book.

A good read with nice even storyline
This book was different. Stay with it. I almost dropped it about 1/4th the way thru because our "heroine" was behaving like a total jerk. But, it gets better once she quits being so self absorbed and starts to see him differently. Not one of KB's best but it is by KB so I will take it! :) I like her writing and her snappy dialogue.

Hilarious, Sweet and Emotional.
Kendall Ryan is trying to break me! I had a feeling this book was going to be an emotional rollercoaster for me and it was. It hit me in all the feel. I think anybody that’s ever tried to conceive and not been successful, at least the first time is going to identify with Jenna, the main character. It was handled so beautifully, so realistically that I just, having been in a similar situation, it just hit me, in all the feels I guess, and I think Kendall put a lot of heart and soul into that aspect of the story. I felt like I was there with Jenna, that her lows were my own and her highs, well, I got to experience them with her too. It was beautiful. It still has all the hilarious and sexy stuff that you, which is great, but the emotional aspect, for me at least, put this above the others I’ve read, I think it might be my favourite Kendall book to date, I know I’m a little behind, but after reading a good few, I think it’s probably my favourite. I love Kendall’s writing, it’s smooth and captivating and doesn’t drag. If there is a scene it’s because that scene makes sense to the story, that scene is going to move the story along, it’s not filler, there isn’t a lot of that in Kendall’s books, it’s not just there to increase the word count. Each scene has a purpose. I love that, and it makes it easy to read.
Not everyone is going to like the insta-lust aspect of this story, and you know what? That’s totally fine, everyone likes different things, I actually really liked it in this book because to me it made sense for these characters to meet and start their relationship that way. This book has all the feels. I’m still thinking about it, I loved it so much. The cover, swoon, holy forearms! Oh, my days! I have stared a little too much at this cover just gazing at the forearms, this might be my favourite Kendall cover yet. And, of course, I love that it includes the narrators names. I like to see at a glance who is going to be entertaining me.
These characters are great in this book, the way they interact, obviously, it’s hilarious because Kendall does humour very well. Some of the things that happened whether it’s the way the characters interact or how situations unfold is really funny, but it still has that emotional aspect to it. Jenna and Emmett are all the things. I adored them together, they made such a perfect couple from early on. Of course, if they realised that it would have been a super quick book. Haha. I loved how they interacted with each other, it was light-hearted and funny, but also sweet with a deeper connection. The sexy times were super sexy. Jenna was a strong independent woman, she knew what she wanted, and she made plans to make it happen, I loved that about her. She’s the type of character you wanna be friends with, I actually saw a lot of myself in her and that made this a very different experience for me. A great one, but different. Some of the aspects of this book hit close to home. Emmett was such a sweetheart, I loved him, the way he was with Jenna was sexy and sweet. Everybody needs an Emmett in their lives, a man that will allow them to be themselves but also take care of them. There is a twist/ conflict, which I’m not going to talk about much, just to say, we know what the twist is, but the characters don’t, when it comes to light, I’ll be honest, I wanted to punch Emmett in the balls because he didn’t handle that the best he could, it was resolved quickly and not dragged out. The ending was everything I hoped it would be.
This dual narration by Sebastian York and Virginia Rose was wonderful. Their voices complemented each other well. They give these characters life and really nail it. You just get lost in the story. Virginia Rose was absolutely fantastic. Her performance was beautiful. Her male voice is swoon-worthy, and I thought her performance of Jenna was fantastic, she conveyed her tough but vulnerable personality perfectly. I loved the emotion she showed and the ease of which she switched between different characters and situations. It was a pleasure to listen to and I look forward to hearing more. When I found out Sebastian York was one of the narrators, I was kinda like, again? I like his performances, I mean, who doesn’t? King of Aural Sex and all that, but, I guess you get over-saturated with voices sometimes, but I liked his performance, a lot. It was a sweeter narration style, than normal, at least I thought so, and I thoroughly enjoyed that. Emmett is a sweet character, sure he has the cocky, sexiness about him, but with Jenna he was always sweet, and I liked that, and that came across in Sebastian’s performance. If you’ve ever listened to a Sebastian York performance, he delivers, every time.
The production had no issues that I noted.

Baby Daddy
I was recommended this book so many times. But, I just wasn't sure it was something I'd be interested in. Then, I got a recommendation from someone who knows my tastes and hasn't steered me wrong yet, and man was she right...again! I totally enjoyed this book. It wasn't just romantic fluff. It was cute, felt real, awkward, and funny. It was as awkward as the situation would have been in reality. I love it when the realism is brought into a story. I believe this is my first Kendall Ryan, and I'm already scheduled to buddy listen another.
The narration on this was also great. Sebastian York is not new to me. I always love his narrations. But, Virginia Rose was new, and she was perfect in this. Definitely an overall fun one and worth the time and credit.

disappointing
The story would have taken a couple chapters to tell if not for all the geapgic sex scenes.

Left something to be desired...
Not worth rereading and wouldn't pay for another book by the author. While people have metioned the movie You've Got Mail the similarity ends at the job description and dilemma, but only with fleeting moments and it was so short it's not really a comparison. The sex was akward at first, then rushed; the fluff and romance was more angst then connection. This was not the light feel good and steamy read I was expecting.
I do give harsh reviews but this is mostly for myself, I read quite a few books every week and I need to be able to check back on what I really thought about a book when I come across something else by the same Author or I considering rereading something in my library.
