Publisher's Summary

Sir Philip Rookwood is the disgrace of the county. He's a rake and an atheist, and the rumors about his hellfire club, the Murder, can only be spoken in whispers. (Orgies. It's orgies.)

Guy Frisby and his sister, Amanda, live in rural seclusion after a family scandal. But when Amanda breaks her leg in a riding accident, she's forced to recuperate at Rookwood Hall, where Sir Philip is hosting the Murder.

Guy rushes to protect her, but the Murder aren't what he expects. They're educated, fascinating people, and the notorious Sir Philip turns out to be charming, kind - and dangerously attractive.

In this private space where anything goes, the longings Guy has stifled all his life are impossible to resist...and so is Philip. But all too soon, the rural rumor mill threatens both Guy and Amanda. The innocent country gentleman has lost his heart to the bastard baronet - but does he dare lose his reputation too?

Contains mature themes.

Lovely little stand alone

Apologies for how cheesy I’m about to sound but I just really like this book and the author and the narrator and I think it all deserves more popularity!

Charming, witty, and wonderfully loving just as so many of K.J. Charles’ books are.

This is essentially a review for all of the audible books written by K. J. Charles that I have downloaded (which is most of them) because I have yet to listen to one which I don’t completely adore!

A happy little accident brought me into the world of lusty reading (listening?), and to the works of Charles specifically. I was hooked after the first book I found of hers (The Magpie Lord) and since then have collected nearly all of her books which are available on audible.
I love the way she portrays queer characters and how well developed her stories are in whole! Her books aren’t just smut, they are full and wonderful and intelligent plots which happen to have the bonus of some excellent raunchy lovemaking flecked throughout the story.

The Charm of Magpies series is absolutely my favourite but having consumed all of those and more, I was in need of more of her writing.

This little story is sweet and fun and happy, although it does pull at your heart one or two times... The narrator is also excellent. His voice is so smooth and pleasing, and he really leans into characterization of his inflection which makes EVERYTHING that much more... engaging :)

A Delicious MM Regency Tale

KJ Charles does a beautiful job with this sweet Regency tale of an honorable and virginal country gentleman and the disreputable man he falls in love with. I loved the narrator's voices, especially Guy's.

KJ and Cornell Collins winning combo.

What a great combination of
Narrator and Author.
I Very much liked this.
He also narrated the Magpie Lord series so this reminds me a bit of that.

just a light fun and enjoyable little tale.

All was as it should've been. I recommend for something light with a great performance.

Fantastic all around!

Absolutely loved the story! But the narration was perfect! Cornell Collins captured all the tones - ranging from Phillip's sardonic amusement, Guy's innocent outrage to Corvin's rakishness and John's long suffering tolerance of the foibles of his friends. Mr Collins was the perfect choice to perform the story.

Absolutely brilliant

I loved Band Sinister when it came out. I've been anxiously waiting for the audiobook and I must say - it does NOT disappoint. Cornell Collins is a perfect narrator for KJ Charles's wit. The voices for each character are wonderful (though I'll admit that Phillip's voice took some time to get used to). Corvin's is probably my favorite. "Make cheese!"

If you take the sex out of it, it reminds me of historical romances I read in my teens. Charles did an exceptional job of creating an MM Romance within the bounds of those older historicals. Absolutely fantastic.

I highly suggest it. Join Guy, Phillip, Amanda and the Murder for a wonderful tale.
