One has been famous longer than anyone on the planet - a wily stateswoman and an enduring symbol of a fading institution. One is the great-granddaughter of a king's mistress and a celebrated homewrecker who survived a firestorm of scorn to marry her lover and replace her archrival, a beloved 20th-century figure. One is a beautiful commoner, the university-educated daughter of a self-made entrepreneur, a fashion idol, and wife and mother to two future kings.

For seventy years, Queen Elizabeth ruled over an institution and a family. She was constant in her desire to provide a steady presence and to be a trustworthy steward of the British people and the Commonwealth. In the face of her uncle’s abdication, in the uncertainty of the Blitz, and in the tentative exposure of her family and private life to the public via the press, Elizabeth became synonymous with the crown. In The New Royals, journalist Katie Nicholl provides a nuanced look at Elizabeth’s remarkable and unrivalled reign.

In The Diana Chronicles, you will meet a formidable female cast and understand as never before the society that shaped them: among them, Diana's sexually charged mother, her bad-girl sister-in-law, Fergie, and, most formidable of them all, her mother-in-law, the Queen. Add Camilla Parker-Bowles, the ultimate "other woman" into this combustible mix, and it's no wonder that Diana broke out of her royal cage into celebrity culture, where she found her own power and used it to devastating effect.

Publisher's Summary
A New York Times best seller
From best-selling author and historical consultant to the award-winning Netflix series The Crown, an unparalleled insider account of tumult, secrecy, and schism in the royal family.
The world has watched Prince William and Prince Harry since they were born. Raised by Princess Diana to be the closest of brothers, how have the boy princes grown into very different, now distanced men? From royal insider, biographer, and historian Robert Lacey, this book reveals the untold details of William and Harry’s closeness and estrangement, asking what happens when two sons are raised for vastly different futures - one burdened with the responsibility of one day becoming king, the other with the knowledge that he will always remain spare.
How have William and Harry both agreed and diverged in their views of what a modern royal owes to their country? Were the seeds of damage sowed by Prince Charles and Princess Diana as their marriage unraveled for all the world to see? In the previous generation, how have Prince Charles and Prince Andrew’s own relations strained under the crown? What role has Queen Elizabeth II played in marshaling her feuding heirs? What parts have Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle played in helping their husbands to choose their differing paths? And what is the real, unvarnished story behind Harry and Meghan’s dramatic departure?
In the most intimate vision yet of life behind closed doors, with its highs, lows, and discretions all laid out, this is a journey into royal life as never offered before.

Title will sell books
This book contains a lot of familiar history. The last chapters are what we also already know. The writer is compassionate to the brothers. It’s a well told, familiar story for someone who woke up early to watch the Royal Wedding way back when.

author critical of all parties
somewhat to my surprise the author of this book was critical of all parties - as well as praise - he called it out no matter which of the fab four or their extended families he was talking about - thus it read as a more balanced perspective than i had anticipated - well done

Brothers - Even Royal
This book puts things in perspective. William will always be # 1 and Harry will always be the spare. They are brothers, no matter what, but with a much different future. Guess that grandma showed Harry who the boss still is. Actually kind of a sad story - the press certainly has done Harry and Megan no favors!!!

I was very disappointed - I don't think the author really likes Prince William. There is really nothing new here. Just someone trying to cash in on a family and its troubles.
