Why American Marines Are Without Peer

What made the experience of listening to Battleground the most enjoyable?

This book continues the excellent merging of the fabulous writing of WEB Griffin and the outstanding narration of Dick Hill. Whenever I listen to The Corps series, I always pull up the maps of the region whre the fighting is described and follow along with the narration. This combination brings the story alive.

What does Dick Hill bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Dick renders the characters in the story believable and adds the appropriate emotion and voice inflection that makes listening to the story fun.A good narrator makes a good book fun. A great narrator makes a great book memorable and brings the listener back again and again.

Rehash of previous book

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

As a stand-alone book in the series, it is a fine story. However, if you read the Corps series, this is pretty much a rehash of the previous book -- Counterattack. Much of the dialog is similar, even repeated.

Would you be willing to try another book from W. E. B. Griffin? Why or why not?

Yes. I like most of the Griffin series.

Have you listened to any of Dick Hill’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, much of his material sounds the same. :)

Any additional comments?

Not bad overall. But, a disappointment because of the rehash.

Great

With our country failing, the story connects to my brotherhood of the United States Marine Corps (USMC 1966-70).
Thanks

Dick Hill is great! I loved listening to him on the Reacher novels….he’s even better here!

Excellent presentation!

Having read “The Corps” series several times, I am pleased to be able to listen to it. The recitation is superb and equal to W E B Griffin quality. I will continue to purchase subsequent volumes to complete the series.

Well done!

Exactly what I expect from the series!

Well done! I read the book years ago, but I really enjoy hearing it with the story teller’s interpretation of the characters.

Too much rehashing

Dunno if the author was running short on material or what, but half of the book is taken up with retelling other parts of the series over and over.
