He wants her out of his auto shop, out of Tennessee, and out of his life. The only problem is, learning why this porcupine wears her coat of spikes opens a Pandora's Box of complexity - exquisite, tempting, heartbreaking complexity - and Beau Winston soon discovers being nice and accommodating might mean losing what matters most.

A Beautiful and Atypical Love Story
This might not be everyone's cup of tea but to me it was just amazing. Picture the kind-hearted, gorgeous Beau first hating, then crushing on a stunning female protagonist with issues. He takes her under his wing, takes care of her, and accompanies her in her healing journey. Everyone deserves to be loved. Thanks for reminding us, Penny Reid.

Falls flat
I enjoyed the first portion, the complexity of the heroin, but after half way through, I got bored :(

Another beard-tasting hit!
Love this series! I have yet to be disappointed by this fantastic author. I couldn’t stop listening.

So smart and intelligently funny!
I am fangirling hard over Penny Reid’s writing. The chapter quotes. The humour. The intelligence of each character she writes about! It’s all so good. It’s so wonderful to listen and be spared of all the overdone tropes of rich guy, down on her luck girl, stupid misunderstood conflict breaks them apart plot lines. I also give kudos to the timelines of each of the novels. No instant love over a fairytale weekend. I highly recommend! The male voices have also grown on me. It’s been cool to have the consistent voices of the brothers through all the stories.

Really disappointed with this one…
I was so excited for Beau and Shelly’s book. I was expecting this great enemies to lovers, with the classic interactions with the other Winston brothers, drama, angst, cute, sweet moments but no… I lost interested probably by the 50% mark. It seemed to just drag on and on. Their relationship wasn’t super exciting, nothing caught my attention. Super disappointed considering I love all the other books up to this point.
I will say, I do appreciate the research Penny Reid did on OCD. I was excited to see this growth within Shelly, yes there was some growth but it just wasn’t up to my expectations. Especially when she only had 3 chapters in the entire book.
I was getting bored of Beau. He doesn’t have a mean bone in his body and that was about it. He was nice. That’s it.
I was a bit surprised too that Beau and Shelly’s book coincided with Cletus and Jenn’s story. It made it feel a little rushed cause every time Cletus was present it just felt like I was listening to his book and focusing on him instead of Beau and Shelly.
