Publisher's Summary

An alluring laird....

He was known throughout the kingdom as Hawk, legendary predator of the battlefield and the boudoir. No woman could refuse his touch, but no woman ever stirred his heart - until a vengeful fairy tumbled Adrienne de Simone out of modern-day Seattle and into medieval Scotland.

Captive in a century not her own, entirely too bold, too outspoken, she was an irresistible challenge to the 16th-century rogue. Coerced into a marriage with Hawk, Adrienne vowed to keep him at arm's length - but his sweet seduction played havoc with her resolve.

A prisoner in time....

She had a perfect "no" on her perfect lips for the notorious laird, but Hawk swore she would whisper his name with desire, begging for the passion he longed to ignite within her. Not even the barriers of time and space would keep him from winning her love. Despite her uncertainty about following the promptings of her own passionate heart, Adrienne's reservations were no match for Hawk's determination to keep her by his side.

What the critics say

"Phil Gigante's handling of the prose in Moning's clever paranormal romance is smooth and engaging, but it is his character voicings that truly make this recording one to remember." (AudioFile)

Waste of time!

This is very amateur story telling - way too predictable and bordering on cheesy. The narration was terrible as all the female voices were Exaggerated in a poor imitationThat made them all sound like bimbos! If you want to read a good time travel novel stick with the Highlander series and forget this piece of drivel. Don’t waste your time!

Author always delivers

narrator kinda turned me off with how whiny he made Adrienne sound.

I was a few chapters in when I realized I had read this book. n by the end of this audio I heartily disliked Adrienne which I had not when I read the book.

Karen Marie's female characters have always tended to be on the strong side and innocent does not mean whiny

Captivating story

I read this long ago but enjoyed the audio version. The narrator was excellent at the men’s voices but I found he sounded whiny and almost like an air head for the female voices. Women don’t talk like that and he didn’t have to either.
Great story however. Worth a listen. I couldn’t turn it off.

Romance

What’s not to love about highlanders, romance and magic? A humorous and magical tale. Enjoyable.

Not what I expected

With all the good reviews I thought I would give this author and title a chance. The story was just strange. Perhaps I should have read the reviews closer. Mystical fairy “gods”, an annoying woman and an instantly lovesick laird. The progression of their story seemed rushed and not believable. Adrienne went from: I hate him for 3/4 of the book to suddenly in love with him. Nothing felt natural or romantic. I won’t continue this series.

Great book! Reader has a great accent

Although I found his high pitch female voice to be hilarious. Didn't take away from the story however.
