Publisher's Summary

In The Truth about Muhammad, New York Times best-selling author and Islam expert Robert Spencer offers an honest and telling portrait of the founder of Islam - perhaps the first such portrait in half a century - unbounded by fear and political correctness, unflinching, and willing to face the hard facts about Muhammad's life that continue to affect our world today. Spencer details Muhammad's development from a preacher of hellfire and damnation into a political and military leader who expanded his rule by force of arms, promising his warriors luridly physical delights in Paradise if they were killed in his cause. He explains how the Qur'an's teaching on warfare against unbelievers developed, with constant war to establish the hegemony of Islamic law as the last stage.

Important to understand certain mindsets

Enjoyed the book but would have preferred a different narrator or even Robert Spencer himself. Robert Spencer has an energy and passion that comes through when speaking and successfully conveys a sense of urgency and seriousness that keeps me captivated.

‘A’ for Effort; ‘D’ for Dim; ‘F’ for Fallacious

Great analysis of some events and well organized, however, quite subjective and limited to the author’s interpretation.

The author conveniently borrows events of the recent past to draw conclusions on events that took place 1200-1400 years ago completely ignoring the evolution of intellect, relevance, importance, realities, etc.

Then again, all we can do is analyze, because the truth is far from reach when we use our brains only. Human beings are 2-part intellectual beings - the brain, and the heart.

We should strive to use both if the intent is to uncover the truth or educate.

Scholarly, Riveting and Brave

Robert Spencer' s book, The Truth About Muhammed is a masterpiece simply because it is brave, bold and intelligent. Robert presents the factual material to reveal a topic that has been unfairly protected and taboo. However, this book is not a 'witch hunt.' Mr. Spencer did not write a smear campaign against Muhammed or the religion of Islam. Whether his findings are concrete and factual or not, the information is made available for the reader to decide. This book is interesting from start to finish; it is definitely worth the time and money to invest in.
