JARED

If I had a dollar for every time Banner Morales made my heart skip a beat...

The heart everyone assumes is frozen over.

Her anger is...arousing.

Every glare from those fire-spitting eyes, every time she grits her teeth, gets me...well, you know.

If I had a dollar for every time she's put me in my place, I'd be an even richer man.

I'm a successful sports agent because I assume "no" means you'll think about it.

I'm sure what you meant to say is, "Coming right up."

They say even rich men don't always get what they want, but those men don't know how to play the game.

The trick is to keep them guessing. Take Banner.

She assumes she's winning, but this game?

She doesn't even know how to play.

BANNER

If I had a dollar for every time Jared Foster broke my heart, I'd have exactly one dollar.

One night. One epic fail. One dollar...and I'm out.

I've moved on. I've found success in a field ruled by men.

Anything they can do, I have done better.

They can keep the field while I call the shots, blocking them when I have to.

And Jared has the nerve to think he gets a second chance?

Boy, please. Go sit down. Have several seats.

I'll just be over here ignoring the man carved from my fantasies with a lust-tipped chisel.

Oh, I didn't say the struggle wasn't real.

But I've got that one dollar, and Jared won't have me.

It was good

I found the heroine wasn’t my favourite here, I really liked how much of a bad ass she was, and did her own thing, owned who she was and always stood up for herself despite her insecurities. But I hated how she treated the men in her life, it wasn’t fair how she treated zo, she cheated and he didn’t deserve it at all (even though it was with the hero)
They were best friends for years before she got involved with zo and she broke his heart in a bad way. And then she gives zo false hope later…. I get she felt she had to, but that still wasn’t fair to him, she knew she didn’t love zo like that but she gave him false hope that he might have a shot when he never did. That wasn’t fair to him
And then Jared (the hero) had to just sit by while she gave her ex false hope and he just had to wait months for her. Not fair to him at all.
She needed to be honest about what she wanted and how she felt. That was the best thing she could have done for zo.

I did like the story though, that part just bothered me

Kennedy Ryan never disappoints

𝙏𝙍𝙄𝙂𝙂𝙀𝙍 𝙒𝘼𝙍𝙉𝙄𝙉𝙂𝙎: if you are someone that gets triggered by calorie counting, mentions of body insecurities, cheating this might not be the book for you.

GUYS!!! This took me almost 2 years to jump back into the series. The first book, Long Shot was such an emotional read for me. I was not mentally prepared for the rest of the series. But I found out these were included in the Audible membership, so I guess this was the universe’s way of telling me it’s time…

Kennedy Ryan does such a great job at bringing relatable female characters to life. We love seeing some representation in books. Banner is a strong, boss woman, Latino, who doesn’t take shit from no one. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know Banner throughout the story, even though there was somethings I didn’t necessarily agree with… Cough, cough cheating. There’s conversations about body insecurities, which I think is great to read about in romance novels. Not every female character should be a stick figure.. We love some representation here!!!

I really liked Zo and felt that he did not deserve to be on the end of the cheating and/or go through the shit he had to go through healthwise. Honestly, he seemed at times a better guy than Jared.

For the plot, I was hooked from the beginning. I was captivated by the characters and their personal growth as well as their careers. It was nice to get to see August and Iris again. I felt the story flowed a little slow, but looking back everything had a timing and place and I honestly couldn’t see it written any other way.

I really really enjoyed these two narrators together. They really balance each other out and they always kept the story entertaining. They weren’t mono toned like some other narrators are.
