Worth the listen!

Good start to a new series, especially for a new author! The next in the series will have great potential.

The suspense was very well done, extremely well done! I found myself sitting at the edge of my seat at times! This author should really consider writing more suspense novels! She builds the suspense scenes so good, you might get a little anxiety rush as you wait for the scene to play out!!! You won't be sleeping if you listen to this at night!!

The "romance" (if you can even call it that), was awful. Yes. Awful. What little romance there was, I just didn't really feel. It was there, just not what I expected. Holly Black, Laurell K. Hamilton are excellent "romance" writers IMO. It just didn't do it for me in this novel.

I would of liked to of seen more use of the magic system. The author planned out the actual magic system nicely and it was interesting, but I think she missed an opportunity to utilize it more. There was very little magic growth in the main character. It was slow and repetitive, and I kept hoping for more! I didn't get more.

Characters could also use a little work. Some were very underwhelming and some have/had the potential to be adored characters. They just seemed underdeveloped and lacking connection to the reader. Not all of them, just some.

Overall it's a great start for a new author. I look forward to the next!
