Story
At 29, Kelsey Miller had done it all: crash diets, healthy diets, and nutritionist-prescribed "eating plans", which are diets that you pay more money for. She'd been fighting her un-thin body since early childhood and, after a lifetime of failure, finally hit bottom. No diet could transform her body or her life. There was no shortcut to skinny salvation. She'd dug herself into this hole, and now it was time to climb out of it.

Story
Sixty-eight percent of Americans have dieted at some point in their lives. But upwards of 90 percent of people who intentionally lose weight gain it back within five years. And as many as 66 percent of people who embark on weight-loss efforts end up gaining more weight than they lost. If dieting is so clearly ineffective, why are we so obsessed with it? The culprit is diet culture, a system of beliefs that equates thinness to health and moral virtue, promotes weight loss as a means of attaining higher status, and demonizes certain ways of eating while elevating others.

Publisher's Summary
A body-positive call to arms that's as inspirational as it is practical, from Instagram star Megan Jayne Crabbe.
For generations, women have been convinced that true happiness only comes when we hit that goal weight, shrink ourselves down, and change ourselves to fit a rigid and unrealistic beauty ideal. We've been taught to see our bodies as collections of problems that need to be fixed.
Instagram star Megan Jayne Crabbe is determined to spread the word that loving the body you have is the real path to happiness. An international body positive guru with fans in all corners of the world, Megan spent years battling eating disorders and weight fluctuations before she found her way to body positivity. She quit dieting, discovered a new kind of confidence, and replaced all those old feelings of body shame and self-recrimination with everyday joy. Free of the pressure to fit in a size two, her life became more satisfying than ever before.
In her audiobook, Megan shares her own struggles with self-acceptance and her path to body positivity. With whip-smart wit and a bold attitude that lights up her Instagram feed, Megan champions a new worldview for all of us: It's time to stop dieting and get on with your life.

Life changing
The way she eloquently describes painful concepts and ideologies is just mind blowing. I listened completely and fully encapsulated by every word. This was far beyond anything I expected and I cannot thank Megan enough for taking such time and putting in so much emotional labor into writing this. This book is something everyone needs to read or listen to. It goes so far beyond just body positivity. Would recommend absolutely and completely to anyone!!!

Shining a light on all that is wrong with diet culture
I finished listening to the audiobook just yesterday, and I feel for the first time that I understand the root of my body issues, and how I can, finally, grow past them. I am 27, and have spent the majority of my life concerned more about my size than anything else, starting at 9 years old. I know many other women live with the same mentality, we all live in the not-good-enough culture, and I have never really thought that living a life without always trying to be smaller, prettier, quieter was possible. After a wake up call nearly six months ago I found Megan on instagram, her colourful, fun, genuine posts were inspiring, and the way she so joyfully embraces her body and her life. All of that joy, humour, light and love is in this book, her honesty and her bravery is powerful and uplifting. More than that, she shares scientific and sociological studies, she drops truth bombs, and shares with us her own story. It made me completely rethink everything I’ve been taught about what life should be like, why the expectations are so unattainable, why so many of us throw away years of our lives in pursuit of perfect bodies. Even for those who do not suffer from eating disorders or have negative thoughts about your body - this book is an important read. To understand each other, we must also understand society. I believe that this book can change lives, I know it did for me.

The Book Every Body Needs to Read!
Megan Jayne Crabbe perfectly articulates how unrealistic and exclusive body 'ideals' have shaped the ways in which we look, talk to, and treat our own bodies. Crabbe seeks to dismantle the structures that shape our thinking and shed light on who has historically and presently benefitted from such constructs.
She aims to encourage everyone of all shapes, ethnicities, sexualities, and physical abilities to embrace their own individuality, and that of others.
If you have ever judged yourself or anyone else's body-- which undoubtedly all of us have to a degree-- then this book is a must read!

Just what I needed
After a lifetime of struggling with negative body image and self hatred, I am ready to take steps towards self love and body acceptance (or body neutrality or body celebration or a who-the-hell-cares-what-my-body-looks-like mentality). This book is an excellent tool to dissect why we are made to feel terribly about ourselves, and the business that fuels the lie.
Let’s all take a step back from self deprecation and understand who is profiting from our shame.
If you’re anything like me, you may get a whole hell of a lot out of this book.
Thank you, Megan Jayne Crabbe.
