Publisher's Summary

A skeleton is found in a shallow grave in the churchyard. But this was not an official burial.

The victim was murdered decades ago. At the same time, Detective Nikki Galena and her team are investigating the brutal slaying of local businesswoman Madeline Prospero. She was a member of an exclusive and secretive drinking club called The Briar Patch. But they've got no suspects and no one is telling them the truth.

Meanwhile, the buried skeleton leads them on a trail to the village of Quintin Eaudyke. This is a troubled place. In the late 70s and 80s a reign of terror and abuse was unleashed on the close-knit population. When more women from The Briar Patch come under threat, Nikki faces a race against time to stop more murders.

Full of twists and turns, this is a crime thriller that will keep you in suspense until its heart-stopping conclusion.

Buried on the fens

Another great story about Nikki, Galina and her team. Kept me riveted right throughout didn’t guess the ending until it was handed to me.

Brilliant story Galena is perfect for a commute

I'm really enjoying this series despite the laziness of the narrator.
Beyond Henriette Meire's incompetent attempts at Lincolnshire/Fens accents is her inability to read capably - it's FOLIAGE, not FOILAGE.
It's distracting but not to the extent that the brilliant stories in the series are ruined.

Another great read

Joy Ellis is consistent in her ability to balance character and plot. My only issue was that the ex-wife concern was wrapped up a little too neatly.

Great storyline and characters!

Buried on the Fens, by Joy Ellis and narrated by Henrietta Meire, had a great storyline and characters! Trying to figure out who dunnit was so much fun, and everytime I thought I had it, there was a twist, and I was wrong and had to keep listening for more clues. I was completely satisfied with the ending, but still hard to believe, even though that person had crossed my mind - honest! So enjoyable, I must go on to Book 8: Thieves on the Fens!

Voice

My only issue with this whole series. Is the narrators male voice. They ALL sound very tired. Having started another of this authors books first I just wish they had used the same narrator. HOWEVER I am enjoying them. On to the next in the series.

Okay

Kept me listening, but a little far-fetched. Deals with issues of homophobia, which is sad to still be an issue in the 21st century. The effects of child abuse is dealt with as if every child is scarred for life in a similar way and all are too afraid to talk about it - definitely not a universal response! other than that, it was relatively entertaining.
