Read it

This book was definitely worth the read. I learned a lot. I only wish I had read it before buying a home! I would’ve have been more prepared. Definitely one of the better financial books.

Not just about mortgages

Good information. I have already started putting the author's recommendations into practice. This is a good overall financial habits book.

Well thought out

I am a realtor and would recommend this book not just for people looking to BURN their mortgage but for anyone thinking of purchasing a home. I know there are not many realtors that like to teach. The home buying process can be overwhelming for first time buyers. I specialize working with first time buyer as well as seniors. Good book will recommend.

More than just a mortgage book

This book was much better than expected. Not only does it have incredibly valuable information for anyone buying a home, it's also a great general personal finance book. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is even thinking of buying a home or anyone who is interested in personal finance

Okay Advice but Not Relatable

Largely the advice is built off of the assumption that the listeners are wealthy or very well off. It has a lot of a “you can only be financially free if you’re already rolling in the dough” feel. I like that he discusses hard work and dedication and willingness to make sacrifices but the advice comes from a place of privilege that I know many people can’t relate to. The book is really meant to speak to people for whom finances are not an issue in the first place, which is fine, I just expected something different. I’ve learned a lot about the process of buying a house through this book, and I’m grateful for that walk through of the process, tips and advice of which types of professionals to hire and to keep an eye out for. Ultimately though the book seems less about financial freedom and more of a “how to buy a home” guide. Very useful still but not what I expected.

Title should be How to Buy Your First House

I learned absolutely nothing new. Probably good if you have never bought a house before. If you have already purchased multiple houses over the years and have some common sense you are not likely to learn anything new. Like how to furnish your home for less money by visiting a thrift store, garage sale or used online sites.

Should be called 'How to be Frugal'

Tons of great tips on how to save money and how to earn more money. I do disagree on the idea of being mortgage free. With interest rates so low for mortgages it doesn't make sense to have hundreds of thousands dollars sitting making you no money and only saving you a few thousand. I keep about a third to half of my home's value as a mortgage so I have money to invest in things that make me higher interest rates. I keep the mortgage payment as low as I can so I have a good debt ratio.
I used to look forward to burning my mortgage until I realized that it was a throw back to the days of huge interest rates. You always hear the debt relief shows say pay off your high interest rate debt first. I rent out part of my home and also use the equity in my home to buy income properties where I can earn money. I take care of my dollars and my pennies take care of themselves. Sweat the big price tag stuff and you will carry that forward to the low price stuff as a habit.

Too generic

The story is too generic, I can google the general info that was given here and will get it for free. Poorly done even for the mortgage burner myself.
