Not entirely relatable

I enjoyed this audiobook for the most part and it was interesting to hear Mel help the people she was coaching. There were some good tips here and there but I felt like the candidates she picked all had very deep rooted problems that were quite traumatic and obvious to identify so Mel was basically only digging until she found the cause. As a person who lives a rather "normal" life without any traumatic experiences in my early life or serious issues, I couldn't relate to most of these people. I do struggle with procrastination and have some problems of my own but I don't think it's as easy to identify as the people she coached. As a result, I was only listening as an outsider hoping that it would help me find useful tips to pinpoint the cause of my own procrastination issues but couldn't.

Finished in one day...

The stories shared in this show were not only relatable, but captivating! I had no intention of listening to over 6 hours in one day, but I was so engaged that I couldn't help it. I laughed, I cried, I had my own ah-ha and "hell yes!" moments.
Mel's ability to get through to people is impressive and I hope you have your own powerful breakthroughs as a result of listening.

Way to KICK ASS Mel Robbins and team

I have been following Mel Robbins for a bit now, have read the 5 Second Rule. I took a class from her and am presently enjoying a Power of You training with Mel and the team. Kick Ass with Mel Robbins is such an entertaining piece of coaching yet has unbelievable information and tools that not only help the people being interviewed but all of us who are listening and can apply to these very same things to all aspects of our lives! Mel is such an engaging person. It's like she is right inside your head because she knows exactly what I'm thinking and should be but not doing. I love all the time, effort and love Mel and the team gives each and every person who listens to them!! Mel Robbins is a life changer❤️

Great Audiobook, but Dig Deeper.

I love the structure of this audiobook. It’s packed with live coaching sessions, which is fun to listen to and dissect. While this audiobook was well edited and produced, the depth of the content is lacking for me.

Instead of tackling the more common issues like procrastination, self-doubt, grief and anger, why not delve deeper? What about people plagued with issues that are arguably just as common but far less talked about? Mel uncovers people’s faults and weaknesses (as well as strengths) by studying their subtle behaviour patterns, but I’d like to see her do this for more extreme behaviours and people.

What about people with high-functioning hyperactive disorders, people with explosive anger problems, overt megalomaniacs, narcissists, egomaniacs, etc.. What if we took highly successful, yet tortured people and tried to coach them? I want to see Mel challenged and fix those challenges as a life coach. This audiobook makes it feel too easy and leaves much to be desired.

I’m interested in what the other side of the coin looks like and how Mel Robbins would delve into the psyche of more complex, manipulative individuals as well. That would break through the thin layer of mediocrity.

Other than that, excellent audiobook.

yes I was warned...

Her use of cussing really detracts from her brilliant mind. I realize she is making rude-cussing-in-your face therapy niche. I just felt it was unsuitable for me to listen to in normal places, and would like a more eloquent narrator/writer.

Not what I was expecting

Was disappointed in this book, had to listen to a lot of fluff to get lesson; but in fairness I can’t get past first two hours, I’m still interested in her book the five second rule, but am going to borrow from library first this time to make sure it’s something want to own

Not Impressed or Convinced

I do not often write reviews but i could not even finish this book and feel I should let people know, what i thought would be inspiring, like the 5 second rule; quickly became agitating. Listening to Mel Robbins call out every individual she interviewed on their traits and qualities, after one session is ridiculous. She is not even a licensed or trained therapist. I feel bad for the people who met with her and were called narcissists and manipulative, if you ask me she is the manipulative one, using people and their issues to sell another book.

Not terrible, but definitely not "coaching"

I'm a part-time health coach who picked this up for its promise of a "fly on the wall opportunity to listen in on Mel's coaching sessions."

I was disappointed.

Kick Ass wouldn't be too bad as a podcast or talk show, but I wouldn't call them coaching sessions. The pacing and casualness of the conversation is too polished on both sides for me to believe the guests weren't prepped beforehand. (Which would be expected of a podcast or talk show, but again, these are marketed as coaching sessions.)

Robbins does at least half the talking, with a lot of "I" and "me" statements and personal stories, which isn't typical in a coaching session. Guests are uncharacteristically forthcoming, there's a lot of laughter and banter, and the whole thing feels like it's tied up in a neat little package in under an hour. In short, it feels scripted to the point of being impractical for anyone looking to become a better coach.

If you're a coach looking for mentorship to up your game, I'm sorry to say, but keep looking.
