Publisher's Summary

Ponyboy can count on his brothers. And on his friends. But not on much else besides trouble with the Socs, a vicious gang of rich kids whose idea of a good time is beating up "greasers" like Ponyboy. At least he knows what to expect, until the night someone takes things too far.

I love this book. Why is there a required number of words for my review?

Always one of my favourite books!

First off, there is no real need to review the story. This book was awesome when I first read it as an 8th grade student and is still amazing now!

I bought this book to help my daughter with the school work she had on the book.

What I loved about this book was Jim Fyfe's narration. The accent, the intonation, just wonderful. He did a great job using his voice to show when he switched characters. Well done.

This is a classic and this version just makes it so much better!

One of my favourite books of all time

I have loved The Outsiders ever since the first time I read it when I was a kid. It’s one of the few books that can bring a tear to my eye and make me smile. Hearing the audio book on my phone brings me back to high school, when I would borrow the book and audio book from the library. Hearing the story about Ponyboy Curtis is one that I will never get tired of. Each time I read or listen to this book, feels like the first time all over again. The Outsiders is definitely one book I’ll always recommend to anyone looking for a good book to read/listen to.

Great Book!

The Outsiders written by S.E. Hinton s written in the 1960’s and takes place in Tusla, Oklahoma,United States. The story is told through Ponyboy’s eyes and how he takes you on a journey full of action and survival. The main character Ponyboy lives in a poor area in a small home with his two older brothers Darry and Sodapop. They are brothers are orphans and are very close and are always there for each other. They all belong to a gang called the Greasers to which their friends belong to as well. Their enemy the Socs is another gang but very different from theirs. The Socs and the Greasers do not get along at all. The Greasers have long slicked hair and all dress alike, they are all from the east side of town. The Socs are a gang of rich kids who drive nice cars and are always looking to get into trouble the Greasers. I would recommend this book to all the to all the teenagers who struggle to understand their own personality and who they really are. Even though the two gangs seemed so different they are very much the same. Both sides want to be accepted by others and all the guys want to be seen for individuals not just as a member part of a gang. The story at times does get quite violent but I think it is necessary to get the message across. It does a very good job in showing how much the pressure to fit in and to be accepted can have life long consequences.
