"A supersharp mystery...confoundingly clever, and very funny." (Booklist, starred review)

A bizarre chain of events begins when 16 unlikely people gather for the reading of Samuel W. Westing's will. And though no one knows why the eccentric, game-loving millionaire has chosen a virtual stranger - and a possible murderer - to inherit his vast fortune, one thing's for sure: Sam Westing may be dead...but that won't stop him from playing one last game!

What the critics say

"Great fun for those who enjoy illusion, word play, or sleight of hand." (The New York Times Book Review)

"A fascinating medley of word games, disguises, multiple aliases, and subterfuges - a demanding but rewarding book." (The Horn Book)

boring

The writing was well done, the performance was excellent and the story boring. The plot is meaningless. had to power thru, I came very close to just delete the book, but the last 3 hours are ok. There is a lot of character with no real lead, keeps jumping from one to another with some time elapsing and no warning, you just figure it out. there is nothing really to hook us to the story or make us care about the characters. There is a lot of better books out there to spend your credits on.

Will be putting this on the digital shelf to read again!

Fantastic narrator! A story that keeps you guessing and intrigued throughout! Will be listening again to put the pieces together and see things from another angle (knowing the outcome).

Solid book

I feel like this book is a book better read than listened to, not due to the voice actress... just for the flow.
It's a good book, not ground-breaking nor emotional, not perfect - but solid.
