Story
This volume completes the papers left to Annie Besant by H.P. Blavatsky with the exception of a few scattered articles. Annie had the difficult task of publishing hundreds of notes as this third volume, and while only making grammatical corrections and filling in some gaps, she did her best to leave these as written. Included are many papers on the origin and danger of magic, the occult, secret mysteries, initiations, symbolism, historical figures and organizations, various religions, and scientific principles.

Story
The Secret Doctrine, the Synthesis of Science, Religion and Philosophy, a book originally published as two volumes in 1888, is Helena P. Blavatsky's magnum opus. The first volume is named Cosmogenesis, the second Anthropogenesis. It was an influential example of the revival of interest in esoteric and occult ideas in the modern age, in particular because of its claim to reconcile ancient Eastern wisdom with modern science.

Publisher's Summary
Blavatsky’s masterwork on theosophy, covering cosmic, planetary, and human evolution, as well as science, religion, and mythology. Based on the Stanzas of Dzyan, with corroborating testimony from hundreds of sources.
Originally published 1888, the first part of the book explained the origin and evolution of the universe itself, in terms derived from the Hindu concept of cyclical development. The world and everything in it is supposed to alternate between periods of activity (manvantaras) and periods of passivity (pralayas). Each manvantara lasts many millions of years and consists of a number of Yugas, in accordance with Hindu cosmology. Blavatsky attempted to demonstrate that the discoveries of "materialist" science had been anticipated in the writings of ancient sages, and that materialism would be proven wrong.

Amazing to find on Audible
It was hard for me to read through the book but I was able to listen through the whole book and was able to get alot out of by listening to; whereas, to me personally it is a hard book to read it in the traditional way.

Fake Secret Doctime
When it comes to purchasing a copy of “The Secret Doctrine,” the only entirely unaltered and verbatim editions of the original text published today are those published by Theosophy Company and Theosophical University Press. These are available at more or less the same price as one another, the only real difference between the two being that the Theosophy Company edition contains both volumes bound together in one big hardback book while the Theosophical University Press edition is published as two separate books but which are sold together, either in hardback or paperback form.

A relatively painless way through a classic tome
I have tried to get through this difficult tome for decades without success. This recording is better than a robot voice and with repeated listenings, I finally have found access to the erudition of this material. The speaker’s voice and enunciation is good but sadly the book (written by a non-native English speaker), is made even more difficult by too many examples of clumsy sentence pacing and mispronunciations, (even for words in common usage such as latent).

This narrator should be fired
This is one of the worst readings I’ve heard on any platform. He doesn’t know correct pronunciations of common words. There are so many editing errors it’s embarrassing. Have heard him clear his throat, exclaim “WHAT!?” After reading something he clearly didn’t comprehend, constant page turnings and thuds and background noises… this is laughably bad and only serves as a reminder for me to buy a physical copy of this work.
