Publisher's Summary

Don't Look. At first, they struggle to escape. Then a torrent of blows rains down upon their bodies until their eyes cloud over in final agony. The killer shows no remorse - just a twisted need to witness each victim's last terrified moments.

Don't Speak. Public defender Rachel Wainwright is struggling to reopen a decades-old case, convinced that the wrong man is in prison. Homicide detective Deke Morgan doesn't want to agree. But if Rachel's hunch is correct, whoever fatally bludgeoned young, beautiful Annie Dawson 30 years ago could be the source of a new string of brutal slayings.

Just Prepare To Die. Rachel's investigation is about to reveal answers - but at a price she never thought to pay. Now she's become the target of a rage honed by years of jealousy and madness. And a murderer is ready to show her just how vicious the truth can be…

A Bit Slow

So this is classified as romantic suspense, which is definitely isn't. I would classify it with regular suspense/thrillers, especially considering there was very very minimal romance until the very end of the book.

Overall, I liked the plot, but found it a little slow moving. It felt like it was slow for the entire middle of the book and then jam packed with action and answers in the last few pages, where it felt like the reveals could have been a little more spaced out so it didn't feel so rushed at the end of the book.

The rest of the books in the series sound interesting, so I'll probably read the others and see how the characters develop and progress.

Karen White was OK with the delivery of the story. Her male voices were not so good they sounded forced and not realisitc.

Well written & enjoyable book /performance

I enjoyed this book although I wish I'd known to listen to this one before Be Afraid (I think that's what the next one was called). I listened to them out of order but both were still good. I like that this has plot twists and some depth. The characters are interesting and make you care so the listening experience is so much more entertaining.

Reader.

We did not like the reader at all. She tried, and was not successful, to use different voices. Her male voice was embarrassingly bad. The author didn't have a chance...we could not focus on the book to know if we liked it or not.

I would place a minus star on the performance if I could.

good mystery. terrible narrator.

Liked the mystery and characters. struggled to finish audio book though. this narrator is horrible to listen too. Sounds like reading is a huge effort for her. tone of voice makes every character and every dialog sound pathetic.

Great Mystery Romance

Would you listen to Cover Your Eyes again? Why?

I love the reader Karen White and I found this great mystery looking for her current read. I like a variety of Romance and Mystery. This book was a mystery first and had romance woven all through the book. This is NOT F.S.O.G type romance. Romance is subtle between H & H. The hero's siblings could have spin off stories the author could write as independents books, the tie being the family unit.

What other book might you compare Cover Your Eyes to and why?

Clever outline from the author and reader made the whole story a non-stop listen.
I am a core romance listener and have been adding lots of mysteries to my library. Sandra Browns books are closest to this type of mystery, see Mean Streak.

Which character – as performed by Karen White – was your favorite?

All of the characters were given such life by Ms White voice. I love her male voices the best and when there is sarcasm from them, it is the best. See Julie James author for the best reads from K.W. Author Jill Shelves/ K.W. reads are very good as well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES, I did! I Iost some sleep over this good listen. Yes, I did figure out some of the clues, but hey isn't that what I am suppose to do? This is not a hard core mystery like Michael Connelly's but all the characters were good and added to this story. This has a large cast of females who add depth to this story and will not disappoint if you like mystery/romance type listens.

Any additional comments?

Ms Burton, please continue to have Karen read your work. A reader can make or break a listen.

Country singers in danger

Story of the hazards of being a country singer in Tennessee. Rachelle was swept into this mystery when she took on the case of Jeb who she believes was accused falsely of killing this beautiful singer. Her life changed when she became tangled with the police officials that were trying to solve a case similar to the 30 year old murder. The narration was good and the story kept me wanting to hear more.

Slow and confusing start but hang in there!

It started out chopped up and a little hard to follow but once it got into the plot it was pretty good mystery and the ending was very surprising! Worth the listen.

voice

the voice was kind of nerve-wracking. All the voices sounded the same couldn't tell the difference sometimes.
