Publisher's Summary
Scout Randall needs answers on a past she can’t remember...and when an associate introduces her to an individual who claims to have known her family way back when, she believes those answers might finally be accessible. That falls by the wayside, though, when a tanned vampire lands in her backyard in the middle of the night...and he has a magical teenager in tow.
Sami Winters is all mouth and determination...and she’s looking for her parents. Scout wants to help, but handling a teenager like Sami isn’t as easy as it looks on the surface. By the time her wayward parents catch up with her - including a mother who is rumored to be the most powerful mage in the world - Scout finds herself knee-deep in a new adventure.
It seems female shifters in the area are going missing and rogue vampires from areas unknown are on the prowl. Sami Winters is a hybrid, part-wolf and part-mage, and she’s a coveted ally in what’s being described as a coming war. Scout has no choice but to join with the newcomers to figure out what’s going on.
Vampires and werewolves working together is unheard of, right? Maybe not. If the signs are right, it seems a new enemy is brewing, and Scout is going to need help taking down an entire army of paranormal foes.
At the end of the day, she just wants to know who she is and where she came from. The answers might be closer than she ever imagined.

Stop making Scout dumb to make Zoe look good
Before I go in my rant I should say I have been listening to this series from the beginning. Heck I have read/listened to a lot of Amanda’s books. I like the narration. The story itself was good. I like the characters. I enjoyed the over all path.
The problem i have is in my opinion the author keeps dumbing Scout down to show how great Zoe is. First time I noticed is with born vampires. In the very last book Scout was telling everyone about born and made vampires. In this book Zoe tells her that the vamp is born and Scout is all “I didn’t know that was a thing.” That’s a lie the first time I noticed was in the same conversation when talking about how she got by the barrier in the last book. “I still don’t know how it worked. I sort of made myself fluid when slipping through oh and invisible.” In the last book she said she was shifting planes. Then her wards aren’t good enough. Then Zoe can heal, and Scout wishes she could. In the first book she healed Raisin. The author could have had Scout want to be as quick as Zoe is at healing. When she healed Raisin it did seem to take a while. Instead she makes Scout say she can’t. I know it is easy to pick out little things in series that change like eye color or maybe the order something happened in when reading a whole series. This is not little things. Every time it happens it knocks me out of what is a good story. Heck I went back and relistened to the vampire one because I thought I heard wrong.

Omg! What a battle!
This book is epic with a great cliffhanger. And now I want a pet bear. Zoe is the biggest bad ass of Amanda M Lee’s universe and she joins Scout to save a vampire friend, Sammi, and others.

Great Book!
I am ao glad to be able to keep up with the Winter family. Zoe is, as usual, a bad ass with a heart. I hope that Sammie matures soon as , having grown girls myself, she seems more spoiled than most.
I love that Scout now has a bit of family. Hopefully she'll figure out what she is.

Good story. Lousy writing
I listened to 4 books of this series and, while the story line is good, the details are a mess. The author doesn't even try to maintain consistency with her characters. In one chapter Scout wakes to the smell of coffee and finds Gunner in her kitchen with a new coffee pot, brewing coffee; a few chapters later he doesn't know how to make coffee because he "has a keurig at home." In one book Scout heals Raisin of broken bones, internal and external injuries and a few books later, there's a big fuss made about Scout's amazement and envy of Zoe's healing talent. in one book Scout knows all about the difference between "born" vampires and "made" vampires and in the next, it has to be explained to her. These are just a few examples.
In my opinion, the author should have sold her story idea to someone who actually pays attention to what's being written

Book has two comments and NO complaints.
This book revealed sooooo much. I loved that, but; it may have revealed too much for just one book of a series. I would have expected a seperate book entry for each of the two major themes in this offering.
Having two major points of interest in this one book made it difficult to devote and invest in the plot and characters.
I enjoyed the listen save for the multiple replays of chapters that I did because I missed something and wanted to go back and catch it.
When will book five be out?

loved this one, too!
my only thing is, and it's definitely nitpicking, is that in the last book, Scout talked about the difference between born and made vampires. so she obviously knew there Were born vampires. yet, in this book, when Zoe said Raphael was one, Scout acted oblivious. like she'd had no idea that was a thing. ? yeah, like i said, im nitpicking. but still. i LOVE AML, and ive loved and truly enjoyed every book of hers ive read, and that's alMost all of them. it just bothers me when authors can't remember what they've written from one book to the next..
