Publisher's Summary

Right now, over 100 million Americans secretly feel frustrated and bored with their lives. If you've come to regard yourself as your own worst enemy; if you constantly daydream and wonder, "Is this all there is?"; if you have a tendency, when asked how you're doing, to just say "Fine," you may be one of them. If this sounds familiar, there's clearly something missing from your life. This book will help you discover what it is, and how to win it back.

Written by Mel Robbins, one of America's top relationship experts, this hands-on guide not only shows you how to put your finger on the problem, it reveals what to do about it. Mel Robbins has spent her career teaching people how to push past their self-imposed limits to get what they truly desire. She has an in-depth understanding of the psychological and social factors that repeatedly hold you back, and more importantly, a unique set of tools for getting you where you want to be. In Stop Saying You're Fine, she draws on the latest neuroscientific research, interviews with countless everyday people, and ideas she's tested in her own life to show what works and what doesn't. The key, she explains, is understanding how your own brain works against you. Because evolution has biased your mental gears against taking action, what you need are techniques to outsmart yourself. That may sound impossible, but Mel has created a remarkably effective method to help you do just that---and some of her discoveries will astonish you. By ignoring how you feel and seizing small amounts of rich possibility---a process she calls "leaning in"---you can make tiny course corrections add up to huge change. Among this book's other topics: how everything can depend on not hitting the snooze button; the science of connecting with other people; what children can teach us about getting things done; and why five seconds is the maximum time you should wait before acting on a great idea.

What the critics say

"Mel Robbins has the guts to tell you why your brain is your biggest problem---but only if you listen to it." (Chris Brogan, author of Trust Agent)

You'll get used to Mel not being the narrator

At first you'll long for Mel's voice but they chose a narrator who is fairly close in speaking style. The content is not groundbreaking but is a good reminder of what it takes to get out of ruts and why of you need get out of them.

Just the kick in the pants I needed

Amazing. Thank you Mel for writing this book.

She tells it like it is, doesn't sugar coat laziness or being lost in life.
Only thing I wished while listening to this was, I wished I had the book. She does go over activities to do and with audio books I find it hard to pause and rewind and write down the tasks.

The narrator was also great!!!

Need to read fine print

Love Mel's words, but wish I saw it wasn't narrated by her before purchasing. Might have just got the hard copy instead.

Not overly helpful.

This book was not helpful to me at all. The gist of it is to make a plan to do the bigger things you want to do in your life and put it into action. The author tells you not to waste time Cleaning your garage and to get on with better things in your life but then two chapters later she is telling you to imagine how much fuel is in every passing vehicle. Very contradictory and not a helpful message

Disappointed

Enjoyed the book and it’s many messages. Disappointed that it wasn’t Mel narrating. No difference.

Okay but not great

I like the first few chapters then I found it repetitive. I enjoyed the stories. I struggled to finish it because I felt I was listening to the same advises over and again. If you like the Bootcamp style, then you'll enjoy it more, not my cup of tea.
