Publisher's Summary

A Reese's Book Club + Hello Sunshine on Audible Pick

"My March pick is here! It’s Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid, and it ROCKS. Literally. The story centers on the meteoric rise of a rock band in the '70s and its lead singers, Daisy Jones and Billy Dunne, whose connection is as electric as the music they make together. It’s sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll, people!! And the very best part?! Hello Sunshine is turning this into a TV show with Amazon Studios...so stay tuned for more updates!" (Reese Witherspoon)

A gripping novel about the whirlwind rise of an iconic 1970s rock group and their beautiful lead singer, revealing the mystery behind their infamous breakup.

Daisy is a girl coming of age in LA in the late '60s, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go. The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it’s the rock ’n’ roll she loves most. By the time she’s 20, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things. Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne. On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she’s pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road. Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes that the key to supercharged success is to put the two together. What happens next will become the stuff of legend.

The making of that legend is chronicled in this riveting and unforgettable novel, written as an oral history of one of the biggest bands of the '70s. Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented writer who takes her work to a new level with Daisy Jones & The Six, brilliantly capturing a place and time in an utterly distinctive voice.

What the critics say

“Raw, emotive, and addictively voyeuristic, Daisy Jones & The Six is imbued with the same anguished heart that fuels the very best rock ‘n’ roll. Like my favorite albums, this book will live with me for a very long time.” (Steven Rowley, author of Lily and the Octopus)

“An explosive, dynamite, down-and-dirty look at a fictional rock band told in an interview style that gives it irresistible surface energy...although the real power of this delicious novel is at its tender beating heart. It’s an anthem and a ballad and a marvel.” (Elin Hilderbrand, author of The Perfect Couple)

One of the few books I enjoyed more as an audiobook

Taylor Jenkins Reid is an incredible writer and the narrators all gave fantastic performances. I feel I enjoyed it more as an audiobook than I would have as a physical book. I feel the same way about her other book (The 7 Husbands of Evelyn Hugo). Such a good experience!

Best Audiobook Ever

This story had me hooked from the first minute. Love the story and the performances were so great and added so much to the story. If you grew up listening to rock in the 70's, then this story is so familiar, even though it is fictional. So glad this is being turned into a series for Amazon Prime by Reese Witherspoon.

Like a fictional Fleetwood Mac Biography

Really enjoyed this book. It took me a while to figure out why it felt so familiar and I realized it reminded me of the Fleetwood Mac Rumours album.

Anyone who enjoyed the Anthony Keidis bio will enjoy this book. One of the best narration casts I’ve experienced since using audible.

Miss. Reid is setting high standards & I love it.

The trip this story took me on was with characters who were engaging, heart-breakingly sad, uplifting, funny and so many more adjectives I can't list here because I'll probably run out of room.

the performances were impeccable. all of the voice actors never felt like they were phoning it in and (I'm a little embarrassed to admit) got me to react outloud several times.

what all this TL;DR boils down to is Thank you Miss Taylor. I got to care for these characters because of the way you wrote and what the cast created. So the best thing I can say is thank you for creating characters who felt multi-layered and authentic in a story that got me in ALL the feels...

....and if you happened to have another rollercoaster to ride, I'm here for it.

wow

I didn’t expect this book to be as good as it was and blow me away the way that it did. I don’t know if I would’ve liked it as much reading it physically purely because the voices just matched the personalities so incredibly well. The story was amazing and threw me for a loop. I laughed, I gasped, I squealed, I cried. It took me for such a ride I wasn't expecting and it was so incredible. This really was a fantastic story that I think will stay with me for a really long time. Daisy Jones and Billy Dunn really did me in.

An auditory experience and spectacular story.

This is a novel I’ve been wanting to read for ages now… and I am so happy I chose the audiobook version. Because of the way Jenkins Reid wrote this story, it took a little getting used to in the beginning while learning the characters. But by about 20 minutes in, I was engrossed. Highly recommend!
