Smart & Funny

This has been a hit and miss series for me, but I enjoyed this story very much. Marie & Matt are very likable characters, both are smart and funny and their relationship is a slow burn. There are check ins with other characters from the previous books which is always a nice touch. I would have enjoyed a little more from Matt’s POV, but overall a decent read.

Stand alone but should read others first

Most stand alone books in series briefly involve or reference previous characters. This book spends 1/2 time on the old characters and there are a lot of them. I felt it detracted from the story because there were so many players who I didn't know and didn't have investment in. The dialogue was prolonged in this way. Wanted more time with the main characters. Should read the other books first

superb!

Marie & Matt's heartfelt story, the news from the rest of the gang, the slow growth & burn, the permanent smile on my face, the anticipation, the truth, the sweetness, the sexiness, the cleverness of this book, the choice of Joy Nash as a narrator... Thank you, Mrs. Reid <3

This book started out hilarious and didn't stop!

It is the perfect book to read for any single woman. I mean I have a new line when I want to date someone, but they can't seem to get it, "Step back from the stupid dehydrated horse." You need to read the book, but it makes sense when you do. This book also made me want to look into a professional cuddler as well as the other professionals she was looking into. This is the book that I just totally wondered how the author can always seem to write characters that have so much "me" in them! It's like she knows exactly how my mind works! Some fun things at the beginning of each chapter was some kind of AI or other technology that seems way out there, but from asking the author on Facebook, all of it is true, which in some of the chapters is kind of scary to think of. Another thing I love about Reid's stories is that there always seems to be someone talking about books to someone, or giving them a book, etc. I just love it! They're so my people! One moment that is totally relatable is when Marie thinks about how she's so happy for her friends, but it's also hard to not be jealous or sad for yourself. Like in the movie Bridesmaids, how she felt when her best friend tells her she's engaged. She's happy, but it still hits her. And then there is the line about how when you tell a single person there is someone out there for them, it's like telling an X-Files fan that you have proof of aliens, but no way to show them the evidence. The last term I have to say that I'm stealing for my own use is "whore-mones". Yep, it's a perfect way to phrase it. Marie and her horrible blind date are one of my favorites in this world and I loved this book to death!

Nothing but love for this book!

Gah! I don’t even know where to start with this book. It is awesome! I constantly had a smile on my face while listening to it.

Also, Joy Nash is an absolute delight. Her performance feels so authentic.

Having a male narrator perform the last chapter was charming, and the ending left me with the biggest grin.

another awesome addition to the series!

I loved it as from the beginning, the two main characters compliment each other so well with neither one being a doormat.

BRILLIANT! <br />

I absolutely LOVE this book and will be relisting to it many more times
I learnt so much about technology. It was told in a very humorous and fun way. The narrator truly brought the characters to life! I highly recommend you take this journey!

Creative, funny and emotionally angsty at times story

This series is entertaining and this story fits in. Marie and Matt fit like the proverbial Ying Yang mentioned in the story. Marie is such a strong person in so many ways but like many singles lost in the dating world, finding someone that's remotely honest about themselves online is impossible. Including this time when she's been perfectly matched! But no, it's actually a study and the guy doesn't even remotely look like the picture on the profile! She despises this person whoever he is... oh, um, he's Fiona and Greg's neighbor and they really like him. What? This is a great setup for the story and the two go on to learn more about each other slowly and fall for each without letting the other know because Marie friend zoned Matt! She really didn't mean too but it seemed the wisest move. The repartee is crisp and intelligent. I loved the AI information cited at the beginning of each chapter. Each chapter improved as the chapters flew by. Switching to the male narrator/perspective (or Joy has a seriously make sound voice) for the last couple chapters was a terrific strategy that worked wonderfully and I loved.
I definitely recommend this story/book.

An fun, enjoyable story sprinkled with strong characters with quirks.

A solid, well written story with an engaging plot, interesting and quirky characters whose issues do not end up being wearisome, repetitive or irritating. Rather it’s an engaging dance towards a happy ending. The narration is good. Overall a fun read - good enough to reread so that makes it well worth the credit.

Love Matt!

Great character! Not sure why this is labelled a standalone...you have to have listened to or read all the other books prior to to understand this one. Would definitely listen again. And, Marie...she really is that one friend who could almost be overlooked in all the other books...very endearing couple.
