Publisher's Summary
A.D. 69. The Roman Empire is up for the taking. The Year of Four Emperors will change everything - especially the lives of two sisters with a very personal stake in the outcome.
Elegant and ambitious, Cornelia embodies the essence of the perfect Roman wife. She lives to one day see her loyal husband as Emperor. Her sister Marcella is more aloof, content to witness history rather than make it. But when a bloody coup turns their world upside-down, both women must maneuver carefully just to stay alive.
As Cornelia tries to pick up the pieces of her shattered dreams, Marcella discovers a hidden talent for influencing the most powerful men in Rome. In the end, though, there can only be one Emperor... and one Empress.

Another excellent Kate Quinn story
Always enjoy the telling of the way it may have been in history as told by a brilliant writer with real research for a baseline.

Not as good :(
What disappointed you about Daughters of Rome?
The story isn't as good as the "Mistress to Rome". I literally fell asleep within 35 mins in.

Nice background on the year of the 4 emperors...
but not as compelling as Mistress of Rome. Pleasant story line, but the narrator voices became somewhat distracting. The paperback might be a better experience.

Love the story, Can’t stand the narration.
The pronunciation is awful. This narrator has NO clue. Domitian is pronounced duh-mi-shn, Vespasian veh spaa see uhn. Every time I hear these it takes me out of the story. Yeesh.
Love the books.

Boring
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
It just wasn’t exciting at all. It was missing any substantial plot. I listened to 6 hours and gave up on it.

Riveting though . . . Shouldn't this have been
the first book in the series? It gives a beautiful perspective on the world that created the story scape of Mistress of Rome. Either way don't sleep on this author. If you love Anita Diamant or Maria Kalogridis you will eat this tome up.

Great book!
I read The Mistress of Rome before I read this book, and I enjoyed Mistress of Rome a little better than this one, however it was still a great book and very interesting stories and characters!

My least favorite Kate Quinn book
Characters confusing. Narrator adds nothing to character's voices. Deleted from my library as felt like I was wasting time.

Enjoyable easy book
I loved the four sisters stories, especially Cornelia and Diana . The book brings Rome to Life. Just a bit cheesy like a RomCom not as good as Alice Network, but still enjoyed it.

Not sure why I am fond of this series by Ms Quinn but they suck me in and I keep listening to them. Likely it’s because The Alice Network and The Huntress we’re so astoundingly amazing.
