Featured Article: 11 Book Series for Fans of the Twilight Saga
The Twilight Saga, by Stephenie Meyer, was one of the most widely popular book series of its time. It spawned a huge following, gained devoted fans that argued fervently for either Team Edward or Team Jacob, and generally started an entire young adult vampire craze. It was also a sign to many that teens could still become obsessed with books—and not just obsessed, but obsessed on a widespread, global level. But after Twilight came to an end, many younger listeners (and the adults they grew into) were left wondering what next series could fill the void. Luckily, a plethora of authors stepped up with content sure to satisfy any Twilight fan’s thirst for a new listen.

Though everyone agrees that vampires were once human, there is a ridiculous amount of conversation in this book surrounding how vampires do things. For example, people wondered if vampires could be gay, if and how they have sex, how they could make money and other ridiculous questions that seemed to imply that once they died and became a vampire certain human characteristics were eradicated.
I am saddened that the author followed along with the typical vampire definition of not liking garlic, being seriously weakened by silver and having to sleep during the day because of the sun, but took it to another level, by apparently making the vampires appear like savages. Having them sleep in the dirt underground during the day and making it so that even weak humans can somehow deceive these predators and quickly catch them in silver and drain them. I rolled my eyes at some of the ridiculousness.
Like not one vampire thought of a way to have windows that shade them from the sun during the day or to build an underground secure bunker in a basement where they could sleep?
AND If you have lived for over a thousand years and you are still poor, you are truly dumb.

I never explored anything of Charlaine Harris' as I thought her writing was mostly teen-level vampire - boy was I wrong - this is definitely not for young teens. The series had everything - blood, violence, spicy sex, murder, intrigue, torture, scheming, etc., but it also had friendship, kindness, romance, and magic. I actually had real physical reactions and fell a bit in love with the vamps and the weres, that then turned to hatred, then betrayal, then bitterness. I loved then hated Bill and then loved him again, totally loved and ended up hating Eric, but always, always loved Sam. I laughed out loud, cried real tears, and felt that awful pit in my stomach at times. If you want a series that you can become fully invested in, this is it. Johanna Parker did a fantastic job on the narration and is in fact one of my favorite narrators - she definitely did justice to this series. I knew who was whom by the voices and didn't find anything about her narration irritating.
I was thrilled to find some familiar characters in Charlaine Harris' series "Midnight, Texas", which was an incredible trilogy. If you enjoyed reading about Sookie Stackhouse, you might want to take a drive down to Midnight and say hello.
Ms. Harris, Ms. Parker - thank you for providing so many hours of entertainment - it was like an emotional roller coaster from start to finish and I loved every minute.
Fantastic Series!

I had a blast!
Charlaine Harris delivers a quirky little mystery with a side of vampy romance. The real star of the show here though is Johanna Parker. She's just as delightful as Anna Paquin as Sookie Stackhouse, and her other character's voices are also unique, making this an easy listen. I quickly started Living Dead in Dallas after finishing this one.
Johanna Parker really brings Sookie to life
