Publisher's Summary

Almost 40 years since its original publication, Drawing Down the Moon continues to be the only detailed history of the burgeoning but still widely misunderstood Neo-Pagan subculture.

Margot Adler attended ritual gatherings and interviewed a diverse, colorful gallery of people across the United States, people who find inspiration in ancient deities, nature, myth, even science fiction. In this revised edition, Adler takes a fascinating and honest look at the religious experiences, beliefs, and lifestyles of modern America's Pagan groups.

Long in some parts and not long enough in others.

Overall I enjoyed the book. it felt like a decent overveiw of Pagans in North America. The only problems I found, was that the Feminist Wicca section felt very long compaired to others and the Druid section felt lacling as I don't recall any mention of OBOD.

Very informative, very dense!

I hope that someone takes up Adler's role after her passing to continue to provide updated, thorough information.

Addictive and eye opening!

I have struggled most of my life to put into words what I believe, and how to understand who and what I am. This book has opened my eyes to those mysteries I have long been searching for.

Great next level read!

If you want to know more about backgrounds of many of the traditions and thoughts of “nature religions” and or witchcraft this is your next step. Very well researched and this was well read in a non annoying voice.

Excellent and informative

Very much enjoyed. Great overview, learned much about a wide variety of different Pagan perspectives which was extremely helpful as a fairly new Pagan myself. Loved the narrator, she just made everything sound even more intelligent but engaging. Interesting to see the twists and turns in the recent history of Paganism.

beautiful, detailed, and exploratory

This book does a good job of summarizing Paganism to beginners, as well as deepening a historical and modern understanding of the craft.
