Histoire
After Englishman John Blackthorne is lost at sea, he awakens in a place few Europeans know of and even fewer have seen—Nippon. Thrust into the closed society that is seventeenth-century Japan, a land where the line between life and death is razor-thin, Blackthorne must negotiate not only a foreign people, with unknown customs and language, but also his own definitions of morality, truth, and freedom. As internal political strife and a clash of cultures lead to seemingly inevitable conflict, Blackthorne’s loyalty and strength of character are tested by both passion and loss.

On the world called Hyperion, beyond the law of the Hegemony of Man, there waits the creature called the Shrike. There are those who worship it. There are those who fear it. Description
Continuing the events leading up to Frank Herbert's immortal Dune saga, the exciting conclusion to this trilogy finds the cruel Tleilaxu overlords on Ix manufacturing a synthetic form of amal to supplant the spice from Dune. If amal is accepted, Emperor Shaddam IV will gain absolute power. But if the plot of the Imperial House Corrino succeeds, the result may be the end of civilization itself.

One of the all time greats.
This prequel trilogy is one of my favourite works of Fiction of all time. The original series is also excellent, and obviously the origination of this, but I think I enjoy these three even more.

A Thrilling And Dramatic Finale
The final book in this DUNE trilogy is filled with all the politics, conspiracy, betrayal, espionage, and chance encounters that I expect from the universe. It was exciting to see all the characters cross paths in unexpected and often tense ways.
The characters all have their time in the spotlight as the Emperor attempts to overthrow the current spice operations on Arrakis. This of course results in eventual chaos and destruction, though the heroes of House Atredies are not without their strengths.
Once again, my favourite character was Jessica, as she grappled with her choice versus her destiny.
HOUSE CORRINO does not shy away from bloodshed or death, and it gets incredibly brutal at some points. However, the plot is filled with all sorts of plots and schemes, with some Houses coming close to entirely unraveling, that it remained action-packed and compelling.
This is a great book for readers new to the DUNE universe who don’t want something as dense as the original series yet. I truly enjoyed it and look forward to reading more books set in this fascinating and one-of-a-kind world.

An excellent woven tapestry
An expertly weaved conclusion to this epic multithread masterful trilogy. Herbert and Anderson really out did themselves. The storylines and character development expertly sets the stage for the dynamics between the great houses in the original

The destiny of the universe unfolds!
Usually I have found the 2nd books in these prequel trilogies to be the best. That is not the case here.
There were many surprises with how events unfolded to the end of this book!
With knowing that these specific stories will eventually lead up to the events of the original Dune, the conclusions of events in this book set up the conditions for the plot to grant the feifdom of Arrakas to House Atredies.
Couldn't put this one down.
Padashar Emporer Shaddam IV's popularity plummets amongst the great houses of the Landsrod as the reports on Project Amaul come back positive, which leads him to real in the empire with a tighter grip.
Count Hasimir Fenring, remains skeptical with the glowing reports regarding project Amaul and works to keep House Corrino ahead current political events and avoid the scrutiny of the Guild and CHOM
Master Researcher Hidar Fen Ajidica works on his own machinations for proceeding with the positive success of Project Amaul.
Duke Leto Atredies awaits the birth of his son while working with a recovered Prince Romber Vernius to retake his homeworld Ix.
Lady Jessica is called to Kaitain by Empress Anarul for the remainder of her pregnancy while never truly revealing she is not carrying the desired daughter for thr Bene Gesserit.
Duncan Idaho travels to Ginaz to undergo the deadly training to become a sword master.
Baron Harkonnen continuous his villainous ways to manipulate and destroy his enemies while elevating thr status of House Harkonnen

accents
loved the story but same issue as with last: far future accents are not going to sound like current ones. 😕 I found myself distracted from the words themselves whenever the narrator would use one.
